Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

mens 1

Here is a roundup of some menswear red carpet looks, including a one more from the Grammys.

Robert Pattinson: Always one to keep menswear interesting, the British actor wore several shades of grey in his Gucci look, which included a ‘Signoria’ wool coat and a red tie. I’m sure he was a gentleman and offered said coat to co-star Alessandra Mastronardi, who wore a strapless Elie Saab gown to the same event.

Dane DeHaan: The actor was not to be outdone. The face of Prada wore Prada, wearing an impeccably tailored navy kid mohair two-button suit with a sky-blue Oxford shirt and navy satin bow tie. If only Prada’s women’s red carpet offerings could have the same 100% hit rate as the men’s.

Ryan Reynolds: Leaving his gorgeous wife and newborn at home, Ryan joined the evergreen Helen Mirren on the red carpet for the Berlin Film Festival premiere of ‘Women in Gold’. Sticking to classic black, the slim-fit suit was styled with a striped tie that almost gives a nod to collegiate style.

Pharrell Williams In Adidas & Chanel – 2015 Grammy Awards

Pharrell Williams In Adidas - 2015 Grammy Awards

Pharrell Williams wore two looks (or is that three?) during the 2015 Grammy Awards where he picked up two awards for ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’ and ‘Best Urban Contemporary Album’ on Sunday (February 8) in LA.

Red Carpet: There was quite a stir about Pharrell’s Adidas look, with some saying it was too casual. Did people forget that this was the Grammys? I love the look for it’s typically cool and sporty vibe, perfectly styled with shoes with grey accents. The unique thing about this outfit is that it looked grey but under flash light it photographed white. I think the stir should’ve been saved for his wife Helen Lasichanh in her Adidas onesie. Unless you’re in a bob-sleigh team or an Olympic athlete, this is not a great look.

Performance: For the performance of his hit single ‘Happy’ , the singer wore a custom Chanel head-to-toe look. While I love the fun effervescent spirit of the look, he did look like an extra from ‘Hotel Budapest’.

The New Z Zegna Hosted By Future

The New Z Zegna Hosted By Future

Ahead of New York Fashion Week, rapper Future hosted a Z Zegna pop-up space held at The Bowery on Tuesday (February 10) with Peter Facinelli and Joe Jonas in attendance.

I’m not always a fan of suits with sneakers, but both Future and the always-dapper Peter pull off their looks respectively without looking scruffy. I guess this is where the new Z Zegna man comes into play.

While the aforementioned gents worked patterns, and in Peter’s case colour, into their looks, Joe kept his simple, going for navy blue, which is always my preferred alternative to black.

2015 BAFTAs Menswear Roundup

BAFTA Men 1

The tuxes were out in force at the 2015 BAFTAs, hosted at The Royal Opera House on Sunday (February 8). Here, a look at the fine fellows on the red carpet.

David Beckham
: The always-handsome Becks wore an impeccable midnight-blue suit, well tailored and popped with a white pocket square and perfect bow tie. I love the added dimension of the deep indigo shade. He just wears clothes so well.

Tom Hiddleston: Looking suave, the actor wore a slim-fitting Alexander McQueen black tuxedo with a white evening shirt and black bow tie. Black onyx skull cufflinks added some subtle fashion edge to his classic outing.

Luke Evans: Also opting for a midnight-blue suit, Luke’s was an Ermenegildo Zegna piece, jazzed up with contrast black lapels and a black bow tie. He could have likely seen his reflection in his hyper-polished, patent shoes, in which case it should have told him that his pants were a fraction too slouchy.

Mark Ronson In Etro – Pre-GRAMMY Gala And Salute Honouring Martin Bandier

Mark Ronson In Etro - Pre-GRAMMY Gala And Salute Honouring Martin Bandier

Mark Ronson and Josephine de La Baume attended the Pre-GRAMMY Gala And Salute To Industry Icons honouring Martin Bandier on Saturday (February 7) in Los Angeles, California.

Even with the bright yellow hue Josephine wore, there was no upstaging Mark who spun classic menswear on its head wearing a traditional style of suit punctuated with an Etro Fall 2013 velvet paisley double-breasted jacket.

It’s a hard look to pull off; I think even the experimental David Oyelowo may shy away from this look, but Mark makes this work with relative ease.
