Natalie Portman In Christian Dior Haute Couture - 2020 Oscars

Award shows have gradually become a political arena—from Time’s Up black out to the Green Dress Movement.

Though not part of an organized effort, Natalie Portman took it in her own hands to advocate for women representation at the 2020 Oscars on Sunday (February 9) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The demonstration was extremely subtle yet poignant.

Along Natalie’s cape, the names of women directors who were failed to be nominated were written in gold script.

The list included highly anticipated directors Lorene Scafaria, Lulu Wang and Greta Gerwig along with others.

The cape topped a black and gold dress from Christian Dior Spring 2020 Haute Couture.

According to Natalie, “I wanted to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year in my subtle way.”

With Natalie’s poise, I cannot think of a more fitting or regal protest than using a cape to make a statement.
