Nicole Kidman In Armani Privé – ‘Grace of Monaco’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Nicole Kidman In Armani Privé - ‘Grace of Monaco’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Nicole Kidman took to the red carpet for the premiere of her latest movie ‘Grace of Monaco’, which also served as the opening ceremony of the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival this evening (May 14) in France.

Ensuring the spotlight was firmly on her, she was a total knockout, wearing an Armani Privé Spring 2014 gown.

This strapless blue creation is quite a leap outside of what was expected, but a thrilling choice nonetheless.

The silver detailing is exceptional; I can imagine it weighed a ton, and even with all that embellishment she still added a ‘Caftan’ diamond bracelet and ‘Winston’ diamond cluster line earrings courtesy of Harry Winston.

YEEESSSS!!!! So exciting. Topped last year’s unique print. Thanks for staying up CK! And for posting in the afternoon in the US so we have something to look forward to near the end of the day.

not sure if i like the hair….

  5. Yeliz May 14, 2014 at 18:56 #

Well, this was kinda not what I’ve expected. I’m sorry, but this gown looks a bit cheap to me, but I don’t know why. I mean, it’s definitely not cheap at all, look at all those embellishments. But I just don’t like it. I guess I prefer the model’s neckline.

    • Mandy May 15, 2014 at 00:28 #

Unfortunately the first word that popped into my head was cheap. I’m disappointed too.

  6. Prudence May 14, 2014 at 18:56 #

Okay Nikki, have you been playing witch your face again cause something ain’t looking right. Also, I do not particularly like the adjustments made, the skirt is less full on the sides and does not suit her frame, I much prefer her in a column. This is just MEH for me and certainly does not top anything from last year.

    • Valissa May 14, 2014 at 21:21 #

      I agree.
The gown is stunning on the runway and looked like it was worth a million dollars!
It didn’t translate well on the red carpet though….did they give her a cheaper version? It just doesn’t look as rich and lux on her as it does on the model…
It’s very underwhelming. I do like her hair and makeup though.

  7. Derreck May 14, 2014 at 18:56 #

    LOVELY.

Anyone have any idea who’s styling her now since the unfortunate passing of L’Wren Scott?

  8. elena May 14, 2014 at 18:57 #

Absolutly stunning!!!! Amazing,on the TV the dress looked spectacular…

the cast from wicked called -they want their dress back. this dress is gimmicky. if she wore it to distract from her face it worked -not elegant in the least

  10. Charlotte May 14, 2014 at 19:03 #

    She looks good.
The dress is beautiful on her.
But she always looks so rigid, it’s too bad.

  11. dee May 14, 2014 at 19:06 #

I don’t like the modifications made to the dress. I wish she wore it how it was presented on the model. The dress looks heavy.

    • Kate May 15, 2014 at 01:06 #

I agree! I prefer the runway version’s bodice shape and embellishments.

  12. Pedro May 14, 2014 at 19:06 #

She looks amazing but not fantastic!

Last year was way better… BDOTW but o was expecting BDOTY

  13. kane May 14, 2014 at 19:08 #

    A dress like a sci-fi film–sadly not my genre.

She does look beautiful though. I much prefer hair and make up to the photocall and also prefer the neckline of the dress to that on the runway.

  14. from-chitown May 14, 2014 at 19:09 #

Stunning gown with gorgeous details. She looks exquisite. She did not let my expectations down.

This collection was one of my faves and this gown was on my wish list for Cate Blanchett for Oscars. But Nicole did more than justice to it. She looks spectacular.

  15. Rahul May 14, 2014 at 19:11 #

Really dislike the hair. And the dress is wearing her. She is failing to breathe life into it. Anyway, take a bow, Mr. Armani.

  16. M May 14, 2014 at 19:11 #

    Stunning!

  17. pinksugar May 14, 2014 at 19:14 #

I prefer the bodice cut on the runway but this dress is absolutely stunning. Perfect ‘princess’ moment for Nicole.

  18. anna May 14, 2014 at 19:18 #

The dress looked exquisite on the model but it just didn’t translate well to the red carpet, especially with the modifications made.

  19. Nat39 May 14, 2014 at 19:19 #

Exquisite gown on the exquisite woman, flawless beauty, I have no complaints, she is a vision.

  20. Rebecca Z May 14, 2014 at 19:21 #

The dress is exceptional. I don’t like the hair–it is too contrived. And, she does look exquisitely uncomfortable–I wonder if she is afraid the dress will fall down–is seems rather precariously perched on her bosom.

    • grace May 14, 2014 at 21:12 #

She’s probably just trying and failing to express emotions with her new face.

  21. Joy May 14, 2014 at 19:32 #

Wow! I really love this. She was so stunning last year, you get nervous she’s not going to live up to your expectations, but she definitely did more than that. Spectacular choice for the premiere. I’m loving the color on her, and just how different this gown is. You definitely won’t see yourself coming and going in this one. Absolutely beautiful Nicole!

  22. Tiger Nueng May 14, 2014 at 19:33 #

    absolutely Beautiful !!!!!!

  23. red May 14, 2014 at 19:42 #

Lets hope Armani have something from this collection which can top this for Cate on Friday.

  24. Camille May 14, 2014 at 19:46 #

Oh I so wish she hadn’t altered the neckline. I prefer the runway look better than the sweetheart Nicole is wearing. The runway version looks more modern. It’s a lovely, unique gown and she looks beautiful. Princess with a twist.

  25. Christine May 14, 2014 at 20:12 #

She looks gorgeous but not liking this dress as much

  26. PnP May 14, 2014 at 20:18 #

I’m probably gonna get a few haters for saying this, but I don’t like Nicole in this Armani dress at all. I think it looks a bit tacky (which is something I never thought I’d write about an Armani Prive dress) and the changes made to the neckline didn’t help at all.

    • Lee Ann May 14, 2014 at 21:04 #

i agree its hideous and looks like a tacky gown Mae West would have worn

      • grace patricia May 14, 2014 at 23:30 #

        Agreed. It looks so cheap.

  27. Susan May 14, 2014 at 20:47 #

    Really pretty.

  28. amy May 14, 2014 at 21:07 #

she looks lovely but I prefer the model’s version.

  29. Fer May 14, 2014 at 22:26 #

I think this is one of the worst dress alterations that I have seen in a red carpet. That sweetheart neckline does not belong with that dress, the straight neckline made it look structured, and quite balanced, but without it, it looks pushed down and made it look like an overworked prom dress. I don’t like this look at all.

If they were going to change the neckline, maybe making it a column gown would have been preferred it would look so much better. But well, I am no mr Armani. hahaha

    Gorgeous color.

  30. lahhh May 14, 2014 at 23:11 #

not a fan of the neckline, wish they’d kept it like the runway version. not fussed on the hair do – wish she’d had a proper updo

  31. The Dame May 14, 2014 at 23:14 #

I keep thinking of the princess in Frozen…

    • Lee Ann May 15, 2014 at 09:17 #

I keep thing all she is missing is a pair of Dragons . The more I look at it the more I think she is auditioning for Games of Thrones,
I actually liked the runway version but think she cheapened it.

  32. EmmaWoodhouse May 15, 2014 at 01:07 #

My jaw dropped! Love it! BDOTY-worthy!

  33. Derro May 15, 2014 at 03:09 #

DIVINE. Truly the most beautiful dress I have seen on the red carpet in months. Certainly since the Oscars. THIS is fashion, darlings. Unique, bold, exquisite. I look at the details on this gown and it takes my breath away. BDOTY.

  34. TeaAtTwo May 16, 2014 at 18:27 #

I prefer the runway neckline but she looks great.

  35. Sorry May 20, 2014 at 00:13 #

Kidman is too old now to wear a dress like this. The color is awful, her hair is awful and she looks bloated, tired and tacky.

  36. Zeynep May 24, 2014 at 23:16 #

It is hard to make a clearcut comment on this dress as the top part looks tasteful while the lace on the skirt part looks cheap and tacky. A different type of lace could have been used and the skirt could have been longer,I guess.
