Jaime King in Topshop – 2013 Met Gala

JaimeKingTopShop

Instead of opting for a big-name designer, Jamie King chose Topshop to produce her look for the Met Gala in New York City on Monday evening.

Donning a sleek suit with a lace turtleneck underneath, the ‘Hart of Dixie’ star struck the perfect balance of punk, the event’s theme, and sexy.

To evoke the classic punk ‘do of messy-hair-covering-eyes, Jamie flawlessly executed a less messy iteration with a deep side part and straight strands.

The actress topped her style with a spikey gold crown, dramatic diamond dagger earrings, and simple makeup with a strong brow.

All in all, it was everything punk and more.

Absolutely LOVE it! Such a well tailored suit. The gold crown with the side swept hair only perfected the look.

Surprisingly, it works. The jewelry brings out the glamorous feel of her suit, while the lace turtleneck with the “scrunched” material on top and her imitating-half-shaved hair are edgy. I love that the lace sleeves peek out of her cuffs.

Not liking the hair accessory and earring. she looks ok. A bit underwhelming.

    I only like the crown.

The weird emo hair ruins it for me.

The lace turtleneck is weird, tacky, and bit itchy-looking…I think that overalls she makes a good impression, though the suit itself doesn’t appeal to me. Her creative hair is the best part.

Switch the pants for a more slim fitted one and I would love this head-to-toe. The hair accessory is gorgeous.

    Love, love, love her hair!

Lovely, one of the best “on theme” of the night… Just need to loose the fugly hairpiece…

Thumbing through the many images thus far from the Met Ball, I feel disheartened that so few took the opportunity to examine what “punk” really means. Sure, one could define it in different ways, but it is certainly not about being pretty, or sexy, or halloween-esque. Even the actress above misses the boat; a sharp suit could have been SO impactful, but she weighed it down with silly accessories and blond extensions. Helena Bonham Carter, shopping for groceries, is more punk and more fabulous than all of this tonight.

I think she looks perfect. Love her choice of a suit over a dress, and the hair accessory too!

The crown is a ridiculous addition, from the neck down – sharp but it’s not something I’ll remember at the end of the night.

It is my prejudice against light blondes to wear all black, but its also these pants, they look very mommy pants… not fashionable, wrong cut

A satin suit, a lace turtleneck and a crown? Really? Nothing punk here and the crown is way too OTT.

This is just OK to me.
