Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive. Nina Dobrev in Elie Saab as my runner-up.
My best dressed man is Eddie Redmayne in Tom Ford.
Have a great weekend, FC! I’ll be traveling tomorrow and will start my five week internship in another city on Monday, I’m already excited!
I think you mean Kate Mara, not Rooney Mara? Also: loved the looks, this week was difficult to pick!
Gah, this was such a good week! Thankfully, Cate made this an easy choice for me this week b/c if not for her, I am not sure who I would have voted for since there were 3-4 other really strong contenders for me.
I am still really surprised readers voted for Jessica Alba so much in the SAG poll from earlier this week. I thought she the dress was too Elvira and the hair a mess.
Correcting myself- Alba ES was from the Producer’s Guild, not SAG awards. But my surprise at those votes still stands
My best dressed was Amanda Seyfried in Zac Posen, but out of this bunch, Marion is my favorite. I didnt like her look at first but its grown on me.
As per usual, Eddie for the men.
I can’t believe Amanda Seyfried didn’t make the cut, and Jessica Alba in that old-west saloon madam getup did! Crazy!
Nothing bold or super original (doesn’t always have to be) but perfectly beautiful, classy and elegant Nina Dobrev gets my vote.
I can’t get excited about Cate Blanchett’s look like it’s something really great or superb, it’s awfull stiff and cartoonish – the shimmer, the bold colour, the body-tight fit, the lines/the black trim, the pointy little shoulders – it’s all so flat and cartoonishly one-dimensional for me to get excited about it too seriously, there isn’t enough class there. But for coming up with something unexpected and carrying it off without making it look like a gaudy costume and of course for the fit that makes her body look so amazing, Cate is my runner-up.
I’m on board with Eddie’s style and looks like he is going to win, but I don’t find this particular look appealing on him. My vote goes to Channing Tatum, his look may not be as interesting and exciting stylewise, but this Dolce&Gabbana suit works so well for him, he looks so beautifully lean and sleek in it, fabulous fit, I can overlook the slightly business-like feel of his styling.
I think I’ve just changed my mind. Marion will be my runner-up, not Cate, her look is also original but on higher/classier level, then perfectly gorgeous and classy Essie, and only then Cate, her look is just a bit too joke-y for me.
I was all set to begin both my male and female choices with “I know I’m the only one who thinks this, but….” until I read your comment.
Nina Dobrev and Channing Tatum get my votes — for the same reasons you have stated.
I completely agree with what you’ve said.
Nina blew me away with both her dress and styling. I really dislike Cate’s hair and makeup and there’s something a bit cartoonish about her dress as you said.
Agree 100% on Cate.
I would add that, while her decision to remove the black decoration from the waist was good, changing the neckline from a sharp V to a rounded boob-displaying one was a mistake.
I second that opinion on Nina and Cate. Thought Nina made a beautiful choice and showed how to use bright color in a classy way. Cate (whom I usually love to see!) looked over the top and tacky to me. Bright! shiny! futuristic sculpting! lots of cleavage! — all together it is just too much.
On a brighter note, the ladies did well this week overall, so even picking Nina was hard.
1. Cate Blanchett
2. Amanda Seyfried
3. Nina Dobrev
4. Essie Davis
5. Marion Cotillard
Cate! She shut it down. BBOTY
I miss Amanda Seyfried here!
I love Nina’s look, but really, ANYONE would look good in that Elie Saab dress. It takes Cate the Great to rock a dress like that Armani Prive dress like nobody’s business.
My thoughts exactly. Had Amanda been included, I would’ve struggled to choose between her and Cate.
WHile I appreciate Cate’s aplomb, the plunging neckline didn’t work for me so I went for Ashley and Gemma. Also liked Kate, Rooney, and Marion.
For men, I was torn between Jeremy and Eddie. However, knowing that Eddie will win I voted for Jeremy and his scarf
Cate, Nina, and Beyonce. In that order. I LOVE all that color!
At first I didn’t like Marion Cotillard’s look – but it grew on me very much and very quickly. She looks so beautiful, classy, effortless, elegant and put together. Everyone else looks (to me anyhow) stiff and tense in comparison while she looks like she’s floating and enjoying herself
My runner up is Rooney Mara who was very refreshing in her Alexander McQueen dress.
Obviously Blanchet´s Armani Prive dress gets my vote. It´s a shame Gemma Arteton had to share poll with her. She looks undoubtedly amazing but Cate is just on another level right here. My third choice would have to be shared between Nina Dobrev and Kate Mara.
As for the guys I give it to Bradley Cooper in Tom Ford (crooked bow-tie included). I apprecciate how Eddie Redmayne keeps it so interesting so often, as well as looking good in doing so, but Bradley´s elegant look has me drooling… And honest, Im not even a Cooper fanatic.
Having said this (about Eddie Redmayne), I do wonder if any of the other guys in the poll was wearing what he´s wearing (be it this, brown velvet suit, or anything else he´s worn) and he was wearing a ´regular´ black suit, would we appreciate the interestingness in the other person, or still vote for Eddie? Just saying. He seems to ALWAYS win.
Rooney Mara.
When it comes to men I’m conflicted between Eddie Redmayne who keeps the red carpet interesting with a bit edgier menswear that we don’t get to see much from movie stars, sadly; and Jude Law ’cause I just love the man whatever he puts on.
Rooney Mara followed by Marion. I would have also voted for Amanda Seyfried if she was included!
My best dressed man is Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford.
I cannot believe Eddie is winning. Actually, I can lol but yeah, smh.
I seriously don’t know who to vote for when it comes to the ladies.
Cate ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Eddie ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great week!
These are legitimate fashion moments… Epic!
Tom Ford can do no wrong…(except for on Jude Law, but then that’s got more to do with the person!)
I actually voted for Marion earlier this week, but I’ve come around to prefer Nina. The gown is just so classy and suits her perfectly, and I love the use of color. I’d normally be inclined to vote for a more original dress, but it’s hard to deny that Nina actually looks the best.
Where is Amanda Seyfried? She got more votes than Marion Cotillard in the SAG Awards poll AND she was on FC’s best dressed list!! Surely her gown was more memorable than Kate Mara’s ensemble? It’s too bad, because Amanda was definitely my dressed of the week. As it is, I’ll go with Marion Cotillard
that poll keeps changing…anyway i have updated the post
Thank you very much for that! Definitely voting for Amanda now! Have a great weekend FC! xxx
are people seriously choosing nina over THE QUEEEN????
Cate the Great, Cate the Queen….don’t get the obsession, frankly, my money would’ve been on a bit younger, hotter and more attractive Elizabeth Banks to rock this look, she may even have made this look convincing enough for me to vote for it.
Where are Amanda Seyfried in Zac Pose and Nicole Kidman in Vivienne Westwood? These are my best dressed of the week!
Nicole only got 9% of the votes
Cate Blanchett+1
When was the last time Eddie didn’t win?
The poll changed? Amanda wasn’t on it before. The numbers had been jumping around oddly for a while.
first time not voting for eddie redmayne! womp womp. it wasn’t even his outfit, it was the blue background.
vote went to nicholas hoult. and nina dobrev. soooo chic.
I thought Kate Mara in Peter Som but few others did
Rooney Mara and Channing Tatum – both looks hit my sweet spot, but I understand why Cate and Eddie are in the lead, they both look pretty spectacular.
Beyonce Knowles in Antonio Berardi
Eddie Redmayne in Tom Ford
Amanda’s look has really grown on me. I have reservations about the hem as it reminds me of denim, but the necklace makes it. It’s so refreshing to see longer chain-length jewellery on the red carpet.
Cate or Ammanda!
Is it me or does Cory Monteith looks like a Texas boy going to prom? I’m picturing a cowboy hat and a corsage.
Cate is the only one who can rock that Armani Prive
Hugh Jackman gets my vote
I live in the Philippines so Cate Blanchett’s gown is meh for me. It looks costumey than couture. Sorry.
Marion Cotillard for me takes the cake. Quite a fashion risk with minimalism inspired. Love that! Something that I want to see on the red carpet.
Well, Eddie Redmayne takes the cake for me! There’s something about how he wears a suit. But I’m pretty sure he looks good even without one!
Ashley Madekwe for having an outfit I would die to own and have in my wardrobe.
Cate Blanchett and Eddie Redmayne. Easy!
