Subtle she was not, as Famke Janssen explored her fashion-forward side for the 2013 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
One of yesterday evening’s presenters, Famke faced off with the runway in her John Galliano Fall 2012 entrance. But the catwalk may have won this modish match.
The teal blue design with sheer paneling was theatre at its finest on the Galliano model, but the moody tone and the shimmery gossamer layers of the gown looked less appropriate on the red carpet. But if anyone could have made it work, it was this statuesque Dutch actress and former model.
She did eschew the mesh gloves, seen on the runway, which was a wise move, although her bangles seemed out of place.
Do you think Famke’s look was fab or drab?

Not one of my favourites.
The fit on this dress is appalling. This dress looked amazing on the runway, purely because the model had a tiny waist. Also, her hair should have been up. I hate this look, the way the mesh scrunches up around her waist is terrible.
Beautiful on the model, not on her. And the styling is terrible.
I agree. And from the comparison of the two pictures I’d say this dress is made for walking…
I’m not a fan of this dress to begin with, with all the unnecessary sheer panels on the sides, but it looks even worse on her with the bad styling.
Not a successful execution imo. It is a great dress but the green jewels are out of place and she needed to work it more and breathe some life into the dress. Great on the runway, not quite on Famke.
+1
The styling on the model makes the dress come alive. On Famke it just sits there.
Drab. She looks like the creature from the blue lagoon.
I don’t like the layers, the sheer. And her hair and make-up are not good. I don’t like it.
Don’t like this.
I disliked this immediately. It makes her middle look thick. If she cant pull it off, no one can. It would have looked better without any of the sheer panels. I also dont like her makeup.
Did not like anything about this look.
Those sheer panels are belly-danceresque and quite tacky (as well as unflattering). If they had been opaque, I would have liked the delicate yet mysterious/moody dress, but her styling leaves much to be desired.
Oh, the modifications from the runway are just terrible. What happened?
Worst dressed of the event. I don’t know what she was thinking when she styled her hair like this (maybe a mermaid approach!?!?) but it looks very sloppy. And IMO the dress is quite ugly.
Drab…
I don’t like the side sheer panels and she looks waistless here. Her accessorization was poor and her hair should have been put up and some make up to match the retro drama of dress would have been good.
Nope not a good look. She is not making this work,
