I knew the colour pop for the ‘Lawless’ photocall was temporary and that Mia Wasikowska would opt for a dark colour for this evening’s Cannes Film Festival premiere.
Wearing her cropped hair in a braided bun, the Australian actress glided gown the red carpet in a J. Mendel Fall 2012 gown.
Her plum textured v-necked gown with a gathered center and draped sleeves, without the cut-out, was simply styled with Chopard diamond jewels.
Normally I find it hard to warm to Mia’s red carpet style, but I love this gown on this occasion.

She looks beautiful. That is a great colour for her. I like her in long gowns as I think I usually see her in shorter dresses.
Personally find this colour a bit aging (runway’s version has cut-outs, gives it an edge). But it looks good on her figure, and her hair and makeup are pretty. It’s nice.
She’s so young, she should have more fun on the red carpet. I was expecting colors, accessories or experimental make up and hair even. Don’t you think she dresses a little old for her age? I like the gown per se
Love it! So simple and beautiful.
I had this gown on my personal red carpet wish list. I just didn’t picture it for a Cannes appearance. She looks nice though.
Very pretty–much more sophisticated than her afternoon look. this one grows her up, the other one made her look like a child. How old is she really?
Tom Hardy is making me swoon more than Mia, but that is not her fault.
Drop-dead gorgeous gingerbearded THard aside, Mia stands out in her usual understated, mild and subdued by chic and always appropriate way.
She looks divine, the color is gorgeous on her.
Her updo is perfect too.
Slightly too low-cut but otherwise a gorgeous, elegant look. BDOTD so far!
+ 1
Tom, please shave
Mia, nice ok dress. nothing blown away or breathtaking but nice.
This is her best red carpet look.
I absolutely adore that colour!
she looks sensational
She’s so elegant. I can’t remember I have ever saw her this fine on the red carpet. And the color is good for her.
Gorgeous! The dress fits her non-fussy and simple style and the colour is beautiful.
I’m glad she didn’t go for black. This colour is gorgeous on her.
Tom Hardy should be filming Mad Max soon (or is already), hence the beard.
I really like the dress and the color even if I prefer the runway version of the sleeves. I also like hair and make up. By the way, who is that cute boy on her right? i only recognize Guy Pearce…
Miaaaaa! *makes grabby hands* Lool, I LOVE her. So maybe I’m biased, but I think this is great.
Reminds me a lot of this, though: http://www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/2012/02/03/keira-knightley-in-burberry-prorsum-a-dangerous-method-london-premiere/
