Menswear Roundup: Peach Velvet, Burgundy Tailoring and Bowling Shoes
Away from the BFI London Film Festival, there were plenty of menswear looks giving us a good mix of styles worth discussing.

Whalefall LA Premiere
Josh Brolin’s Gabriela Hearst look was equally lush, featuring a plum cashmere-corduroy Irving jacket and Harold trousers. The wintry hues felt all the cosier thanks to the bordeaux-and-spice Wells sweater. The tonal dressing, right down to the burgundy loafers, is why Ilaria Urbinati continues to be one of the best menswear stylists, alongside Warren Alfie Baker. I will die on that hill. A Blancpain watch completed his look.

Austin Abrams wore Celine, and considering how his look is dark on top and light on the bottom, darker shoes would have been the expected choice. However, the white shoes give the look a fresh, contemporary feel that I actually quite like.

Taemin wore a Maison Margiela Fall 2026 look that put peach velvet and unusual button detailing in the spotlight. The soft texture and draped neckline make this ensemble particularly appealing. Some might feel that the colour is too close to his skin tone, but I think the shade is warm enough not to wash him out, while the soft pink lip colour complements the overall look. I’m also thankful that the caramel heel-less Western flame boots weren’t black. It’s refreshing to see menswear that takes this kind of risk, but did he pull it off?

Clayface LA Premiere
Tom Rhys Harries joined his co-star Naomi Ackie on the red carpet, opting for a slightly undone approach in a black pinstripe suit and open-neck shirt. A Chopard Happy Sport watch, Ice Cube necklace and rings completed his look.

Phony LA Premiere
Sam Nivola wore a grey Pearled Ivory suit, stepping away from Dior in favour of something more classic. The adidas Y-3 shoes that caught my attention. With their contrasting black-and-white design and rounded shape, they remind me of bowling shoes, which gives the traditional tailoring an unexpected twist and a lot of personality. A Jaeger-LeCoultre watch completed his look.
