Kerry Washington Goes for Modern Simplicity at the ‘Animals’ Premiere

Kerry Washington attended Netflix’s Animals LA premiere at the Westwood Village Theatre alongside her co-star Ben Affleck.

The actress wore a white asymmetric dress from the Carolina Herrera Resort 2027 collection, and this is one of those looks I only like from certain angles.

Front-on, I find the darting across the top and the point where it overlaps the skirt a little bothersome. There’s something about those lines meeting at the waist that interrupts the simplicity I want from this dress.

Turn slightly to the side, however, and it works much better for me. With those details less visible, the silhouette looks cleaner and the asymmetry becomes the focus.

When it comes to the accessories, I adore the clutch. The black-and-white pattern was a fun way to add a graphic element to the all-white look.

The shoes I’m less enthused about. They stick out in every photo, and not in a good way. This is why I will always be a sandals-over-pumps kinda girl. A barely-there sandal would have been my choice here.

The sleek hair and beauty are also working in her favour, keeping everything else simple.

As for Ben Affleck, this is the best he has looked since original Bennifer-era Ben Affleck. The double-breasted suit, striped shirt, patterned tie and polka-dot pocket square have him channelling his inner Gordon Gekko, and I’m here for it. He looks great, although I wish he’d fastened that second button on his jacket.

As for Kerry’s husband Nnamdi Asomugha, this might be the first time brown and black have really worked for me. The subtle brown pinstripe running through his black suit makes the combination feel cohesive, especially with the black T-shirt and loafers.
