Lexi Minetree Wore Stella McCartney To The ‘Elle’ London Premiere

After a major stateside press tour which saw Lexi Minetree and Reese Witherspoon joining forces to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Legally Blonde and the upcoming prequel series Elle, Lexi flew solo for the London premiere held at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square this evening.

Or did she?

Reese may not have been by her side, but her fashion legacy certainly was. Lexi wore the same bubblegum-pink Stella McCartney gown that Reese famously wore to the 2014 Met Gala, making this another thoughtful nod to the woman who first brought Elle Woods to life.

The colour alone instantly reinforces the connection, but it is the sculpted sweetheart neckline and elegant column silhouette that make the reference feel complete. Throughout this press tour, Reese has spoken about “passing the pink torch,” and Lexi has carried that baton with remarkable consistency.

Some may question the fit through the bodice, but it’s worth remembering that Stella McCartney originally created this gown as a custom piece for Reese, not for Lexi. Expecting it to fit a different wearer in exactly the same way would be unrealistic. I also imagine the gown was again borrowed directly from Reese, rather than recreated, so making any minor alterations was probably never an option.

Lexi resisted the temptation to recreate Reese’s look exactly. Instead, she made the moment her own with a soft, romantic updo of loose curls, delicate diamond jewellery and fresh pink-toned makeup, giving the archival look a youthful finish.
