Alia Bhatt Opens Cannes In Custom Yash Patil & Basuri Chokshi
Alia Bhatt is at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival in her ambassadorial role for L’Oréal Paris, and it looks like she will be among the first of the L’Oréal ambassadors to grace the red carpet this evening, following this photocall held at the Hôtel Martinez this afternoon.

The actress, whose most memorable Cannes moment came last year when she wore Gucci’s first-ever bespoke lehenga to close the festival, is opening this year’s fashion run in a much softer direction with a custom Yash Patil gown hand-painted by Basuri Chokshi as a homage to the French Riviera.

One of the reasons I always look forward to Cannes is because the festival naturally lends itself to beautiful Spring/Summer dressing, and this is exactly the kind of look that belongs on the Croisette. Between the watercolour-style landscape print, the airy volume of the skirt, and the soft pastel palette, the gown instantly calls to mind the Riviera coastline, sun-faded gardens, and those romantic old Cannes photographs from decades past.
There is also something distinctly screen siren-coded about this silhouette. The fitted bodice and sweeping skirt bring that timeless movie-star glamour, while the painterly finish gives the gown an artistic softness that feels beautifully suited to Cannes.

The styling complemented the mood perfectly. Her Chopard yellow diamonds played off those pastel tones, while the Manolo Blahnik mules completed this elegant daytime Cannes appearance.
We are two-for-two in the opening hours of Cannes.
Stylist: Rhea Kapoor.
