Cynthia Erivo Wore Givenchy by Sarah Burton To The ‘Dracula’ West End Opening Night
Cynthia Erivo, who is playing all 23 characters in Dracula, was celebrated at the West End opening night held at the Noël Coward Theatre in London on Tuesday, with her friend Florence Pugh among those in attendance.

After two years of wearing black and green, there was only one direction this thematic queen could take. Red. And what a vibrant shade it was in this custom Givenchy by Sarah Burton leather cocoon coat.
Styled with matching Givenchy boots and a red leather mini Givenchy Pinch bag, the look was a head-to-toe commitment to colour. Although I am glad there was a point of contrast in the black turtleneck, which, to a very small degree, tempered the intensity.
As much as I admire the coat and appreciate that it avoided the obvious route of a cape or cloak, the proportions feel slightly off. For a custom piece, it reads a touch oversized through the shoulders and sleeves.

Cynthia’s red carpet superpower has always been defying her petite stature and never letting the clothes wear her. Here, the volume feels as though it is on the verge of overpowering her frame. It may be down to the firmness of the leather, but I am inclined to think it is the cut rather than the fabrication.
