Kate Hudson Wore Vera Wang Haute To The ‘Song Sung Blue’ Berlin Premiere
Kate Hudson attended the Song Sung Blue premiere at Zoo Palast in Berlin last night, and as a girl who loves a theme, I was fully prepared to embrace the idea of Kate wearing a blue Vera Wang Haute gown to a film called Song Sung Blue. The stars were aligning — at least in theory.

At first glance, the colour alone is enough to draw you in. This custom Neo-Victorian silk chiffon pleated nightgown has a dreamy, almost storybook quality to it, and Kate is someone who can usually sell this kind of poetic glamour without breaking a sweat.

But once the initial sentiment settled and I took a slower, longer look, I realised the theme — and a stunning shade of blue — weren’t quite enough to hold the whole picture together.

Let’s start with the sheerness: surprisingly, not the issue. Sheer gowns are practically the red carpet norm by now, and Kate has always had the ease and confidence to carry them.

What pulled me out of the fantasy were the black harness straps, the visible black bra, and what appear to be silk boxer shorts underneath. My brain kept trying to reconcile the ethereal draping with the underwear-as-outerwear reality, and the disconnect never found its rhythm.
This could have been a sultry moment. It should have been a soft, almost ethereal moment. Instead, it sits somewhere in between — not quite sensual, not quite whimsical, but firmly lodged in the territory of “I’m confused.” And the more I looked, the more confused I became.
If the goal was intrigue, Kate certainly succeeded. But as a cohesive red-carpet statement? I’m still trying to piece it together.
