The actress selected an Ashi Studio Fall 2025 Haute Couture black-and-nude gown featuring a structured tulle corset with sharply sculpted hips, an asymmetrically draped tulle skirt, and a long, sweeping train. On paper, and certainly on the runway, it’s a showstopper — the kind of couture confection that leans into theatricality with absolute confidence.

And yes, I get the instinct. The goth-tinged fantasy lines up neatly with the world of Stranger Things. The sculpted hips nod to historical corsetry, the sheer layers play into that dark romance narrative, and the drama factor is undeniable. But here’s the truth: this simply isn’t Millie’s dress.

The runway version has a very specific energy — almost burlesque in its sculpting, with a sultriness that sits closer to the Dita Von Teese end of the spectrum. That level of intensity requires someone who can lean into the theatricality without getting swallowed by it. On Millie, the gown reads a little too grown, a little too severe, and it omits the youthful, self-assured playfulness that makes her red-carpet choices work when she gets them right.

The corset overwhelms her proportions, the draping loses its finesse in translation, and the entire effect feels mismatched — as if two different style narratives collided without ever meeting in the middle.

This one missed the alignment by quite a margin, and honestly, I’m baffled by the choice. Millie has been experimenting a lot lately, but this particular couture moment didn’t land.

A dramatic dress, yes — just not her dramatic dress.
