Cynthia Erivo Wore Jean Paul Gaultier To The ‘Wicked: For Good’ Sao Paulo Event
The official start to the Wicked: For Good press run took place in Sao Paulo on Thursday, where Cynthia Erivo stepped onto the stage at SUHAI Music Hall.

Wearing Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2026, Elphaba appears to have graduated from black to slate grey — which is actually a fun shift — and the look itself sits squarely in Cynthia’s wheelhouse: sculptural, theatrical, conceptual. No one can say she doesn’t commit. She knows how to own a runway-minded silhouette and make it her own.
However, I have to be honest: while the idea works for her, I don’t find the top itself flattering. The shape is interesting, but I just can’t get into the flattening effect. And that belt — I don’t know why, but it’s very “Country Western Expo 2009”, which feels out of sync with the sculpted upper body moment.
Then we arrive at the shoes. The stripper platforms. There is no spell in Oz strong enough to convince me to love those. They almost distract from everything else.
But here’s the thing: Cynthia herself? She’s electric. Her energy sells every look, even when the individual pieces aren’t my taste. So to summarise — I love the skirt, I love the attitude, but that’s it.
Let’s see what she conjures next.
