Celebrities in Chloé for the 2025 Academy Museum Gala
Chemena Kamali dressed three celebrities in Chloé for the 2025 Academy Museum Gala on Saturday — but you may be surprised that none of the looks immediately screamed boho. Instead, Kamali’s evolving vision for the French house continues to lean more toward quiet sensuality and soft structure rather than the free-spirited nostalgia of Chloé’s past.

Gothic romance undone
Take Christina Ricci’s Chloé black smocked off-the-shoulder dress which is far from the floor-length neutral gown trimmed with lace — the typical bohemian tropes — you may have expected. I love the dress itself; it’s romantic with a touch of gothic whimsy which is perfect for Christina. But the styling — dusty beige Chloé Suzie slingback pumps and a mini Chloé Bracelet bag — completely misses the tone. The dress called for something edgier to match its attitude.

Boho, but make it luxe
Of course, Nicole Richie is going to give you elevated boho. The designer-turned-style icon looked elegant in a Chloé white column gown with her burgundy fur stole adding a touch of Old Hollywood glamour. It’s bohemian sophistication dialled up to the max — the kind of look that reminds you why Nicole remains a red carpet original.

Silk, lace, effortless grace
Annabelle Wallis opted for a Chloé black silk dress accented with lace trim — understated yet sensual. It felt like the kind of effortless, lingerie-inspired look that Chloé does best: unfussy, feminine, and quietly confident.
These looks were good, but probably a bit forgettable on a night that delivered so many magical moments.
