Sofia Carson Rocks Four Looks For ‘My Oxford Year’ NYC Press Tour
It’s been a whirlwind few days for Sofia Carson as she hit the promo trail in New York City for her new Netflix romantic comedy My Oxford Year. From morning shows to photo ops at iconic landmarks, Sofia embraced a varied wardrobe that spoke to different facets of her style—business chic, retro glamour, and feminine charm—with a touch of unexpected accessorising.

There’s a lot to love about this Elie Saab moment. The black puff-sleeved blouse and beige pencil skirt served chic boardroom elegance, channelled through a Jessica Pearson lens. With black Louboutin pumps and a top-handle bag, it was giving refined, modern power-dressing. However, the addition of the black leather gloves left me puzzled. These weren’t a photo op prop or even something she removed once seated—she wore them on-air. Gloves indoors, in July? I’m not entirely sold.

The high-powered fashion continued with a Dior by John Galliano Spring 2000 shawl collar Prince of Wales check skirt suit that offered ‘80s throwback in a beautifully tailored package. This was another sharply constructed look, and yes—those gloves were back, this time in black lace. Again, she kept them on during the broadcast. It’s such an unusual styling detail that you start to wonder if they’re somehow a reference from the film. Regardless of the backstory, this was elegant, elevated, and confident.

Switching gears, Sofia gave us a dose of whimsy in a pleated ivory chiffon dress by Dolce & Gabbana. With its soft bow-tied neckline and romantic silhouette, this is the Sofia I know and love—ethereal and graceful. For those who felt the previous outfits leaned too mature, this softened things up without losing her signature poise. I appreciate that Sofia isn’t afraid to explore different style moods during a single promo tour, but this is where she truly excels.

Yesterday, the actress wore a structured Fendi Fall 2025 jacket, teamed with matching high-waisted trousers. Tucking the trousers into knee-high leather boots is giving major baggy breeches energy. It’s also the kind of look I’d love to revisit when the temperatures drop in October. She finished it off with a black padded Fendi Peekaboo ISeeU Petite bag and jewels courtesy of Anita Ko and Rainbow K. A little equestrian, a little editorial — all attitude.
There’s no doubt that Sofia is using this promo tour to experiment with silhouettes and tones, oscillating between classic romantic and corporate sharp. The gloves remain a mystery, but the fashion range is clear: Sofia’s not playing it safe.
