FKA twigs Wore Dior by John Galliano To The GITANO NYC Grand Opening
At the GITANO NYC Grand Opening, FKA twigs gave a performance that will linger in the minds of everyone lucky enough to be there. Her soul-stirring rendition of Over the Rainbow felt like a gentle exhale—stripped back, vulnerable, and utterly mesmerising.

Her look matched the mood. Gone were the nose rings, spiked accessories, and futuristic silhouettes. In their place? A surprisingly romantic Dior by John Galliano dress, presumably from the Fall 2004 collection, which was known for its metallics and twisted detailing. The silver-grey hue shimmered in the light, with a softness which we don’t usually attribute to FKA twigs style. This was Galliano drama with a whisper, not a roar.

FKA twigs has always been a shapeshifter. Her fashion identity is usually rooted in the avant-garde, but this pivot proves she can command a room with subtlety just as powerfully. Minimal makeup, a delicate pixie cut, and a quiet elegance—this was a reinvention, or perhaps just a pause. A reminder that she isn’t just a style chameleon; she’s an artist who knows when to dial it up and when to let the music take centre stage.

If this was a temporary detour from her usual edge, it was a brilliant one.
