Katherine Jenkins Became The First Royal Navy HMS Cardiff Sponsor Wearing Mint Velvet

Katherine Jenkins was given a tour of the waters around Cardiff courtesy of Royal Navy patrol boat HMS Express as she was formally introduced as HMS Cardiff’s sponsor today (August 25), which is the first time a celebrity, or a civilian, has been given the honorary title.

Fiercely proud of her Welsh heritage, I’m sure this would’ve been a very proud moment for the singer, who honoured the occasion wearing a Mint Velvet suit in the official colour of Wales: red.

When I saw that floral applique, my first thought was that this suit was from Magda Butrym, as this accent can be seen on pretty much every piece that they produce, but when it comes to the blazer, the applique on Magda Butrym pieces is usually much bigger and/or located on the shoulder.

Unlike Jessica Alba, Katherine opted for a tonal look – barring the shoes – which added heightened dynamism through the silhouette of this piece which some might feel is a size too big, but I like how the silhouette leans into relaxed elegance.
