Cate Blanchett Wore Balmain To The 2023 Costume Designers Guild Awards

Cate Blanchett joined Angela Bassett on the red carpet for the 2023 Costume Designers Guild Awards which took place in LA on Monday (February 27).

I was going to say that Cate brought back the Balmain pagoda shoulder, but I don’t think they ever really went away.

Peaking, pointed, protruding, you couldn’t miss the Australian actress serving up Balmain’s signature opulent style also through the use of embroidery and embellishments on this blazer.

Do I love the look? 

Not really.  But it is easy to compartmentalise given the nature of the event.

Personally, I wish Cate had had more fun with it, and given us something more then a blazer with pointy shoulders.

However, it’s already been a long awards season (for us all), so giving us 10 across the board is no doubt exhausting.
