Jeremy Pope Wore Dion Lee To The 2021 Met Gala

One of the reasons I have really taken my time with the Met Gala this year, was to learn the influences behind the thought provoking looks.
Jeremy Pope wore what appeared to be an all-white off-the-shoulder Dion Lee ensemble created to push the boundaries for baring skin, but it had a much deeper meaning.
He later shared on Instagram that what he was really wearing was the uniform of slaves.
And what appeared to be a train, was a cotton broadcloth picking sack by James Flemons.
This look was to honour the strength and fortitude of slaves who suffered through America’s harrowing connection between cotton and slavery.
Maison Margiela’s iconic Tabi ankle boots completed his iconic look.
I’m really glad this message didn’t go over my head.
