When it comes to jumpsuits, I’ve always been a big fan.
It’s infinitely versatile, easy to style, transcends all seasons, and who doesn’t love one-and-done piece to solve all of your don’t-know-what-to-wear conundrums?
They can be edgy or feminine, design-y or down-to-earth, sexy or stolen from your beau.
But when it comes to denim jumpsuits, they tend to be a bit harder to sell for me.
Mostly because when the new season denim season comes around, it can be hard to finding a flattering, confidence-inspiring pair of jeans as it is.
If you’re like me and have an incredibly long torso, panic mode will really kick in as denim is a less forgiving fabric than linen, silk or polyester for example.
Then there’s the ’70s connotations of denim jumpsuits which can be hard to shake.
But when I see Zoeey Deschanel in this SEA New York jumpsuit from the Resort 2020 collection, I’m instantly reminded of how chic the humble denim jumpsuit can be.
What I love most about Zooey’s look is that it mixes her love for vintage-feeling pieces and with a clear modern style – like reimagining a classic silhouette.
With her signature waves the look feels romantic, whereas most denim jumpsuit can translate as boyish, but thanks to the puffed sleeves, that was never going to be the case here.
