Mindy Kaling doesn’t usually need to reason to get dressed up, but it’s nice to have one.
She captioned her latest post “Using #NationalTequilaDay as an excuse to dress up. I’ll take what I can get.”
As someone who loves Tequila, I don’t see anything wrong with this being reason to celebrate, especially during lockdown.
There aren’t many who show their love for bold hues on a more consistent basis than Mindy, and she was glowing in this orange hued Tory Burch smocked dress from the Spring 2020 collection.
Smock dresses were supposed to be this summer’s trend.
However, some might find this style a bit too saccharine with the puff-sleeved or liken the full-volume to a Victorian nightdresses.
I feel that – when styled correctly, this style of dress is a cute, and charming providing a sweet tonic during these tricky times.
However, when it comes to Mindy, I feel that she over-styled it, with the biggest culprit being the white belt.
A smock dress is supposed to be voluminous and carefree, and the belt counters the very essence of this dress.
Then the blue accessories take this to church for me.
So many great elements, but I would’ve appreciate this look more without the accessories, and the accessories with a much more formal dress.
How are you going to go skipping in the meadows with blue suede Jimmy Choo Romy pumps and a top handle bag?
Too many looks going on here.
