Taylor Swift In Julien Macdonald – 2019 American Music Awards

Taylor Swift In Julien Macdonald - 2019 American Music Awards

Taylor Swift was named both Artist of the Year and Artist of the Decade at the 2019 American Music Awards on Sunday (November 24) in Los Angeles.

The singer also performed a career-spanning medley of hits celebrating her title of Artist of the Decade including ‘Love Story,’ ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and ‘Shake It Off.’

Julien Macdonald is known for his sultry, drop-dead gorgeous – and often risqué – red carpet dresses, which is exactly what I wanted from this custom, deep green fully embroidered piece.

But I didn’t get it.

Honestly, I just didn’t quite understand the design between the draped bodice and high-low skirt.  I wish Taylor had picked something from the designers current Spring 2020 collection, as I feel she would’ve captured my attention in any of those designs.

My first thought when I saw this dress was, “it feels like a Mariah Carey dress.” Translate that as you will.

Casadei ‘Blade’ boots plus Ofira Jewels black diamond hoops and an assortment of Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira Jewels black diamond rings completed her look.

Should Taylor have worn the runway version?

the dress doesn’t bother me, but the BOOTS! Why? I don’t get it!

What snooze. The runway version of this would have at least looked coherent.

This is the kind of look that would motivate you to fire your stylist.

I absolutely adore Taylor Swift, but I seriously DESPISE her current OBSESSION with BOOTS as it RUINS most of her red carpet looks recently!! Darling show that leg, I dont wanna see inner thigh or cowboy boots that gets so damn odd with your stunning dress, UGH!!

The safe neckline and the weird insert of a mini skirt is what throws this off for me. Just show your boobs and wear a thigh slit with strappy sandals. The material of the boots is wrong; if she *had* to wear boots, then she needed leather. This satin material looks cheap.

It has quite a dated vibe to it. I dont find it very interesting.

I like the neckline on the runway better. The boots ruin the look for me…much too heavy for the dress.

A bit underwhelming for an “Artist Of The Decade” award victory (although maybe that’s why she decided to dress as Mariah?).

The whole look reads budget. I like shimmer in fabric but the dress design and styling needed a major overhaul.

What is this one session with OTK boots? Enough already.

Lol, obsession. I wish only one session of the boots.

I don’t like the dress and the boots make the look dated.

The Mariah comment is pretty funny. I’m glad she wore JM to accept an award about her decade, given she’s worn him a lot. But it’s a bit lackluster and the shoe is awful, i think strappy sandals could have saved it.

I’m unsure that much would’ve saved this

This looks so amateur. The boots don’t work at all.

This is so bad, I think it would have looked better if she lost all the draping/skirt and it was just a mini, that’s how bad this design is.

Sexy, works well on her imo and suits the event.

Dark green sequined dresses usually look like swamp water or plastic and this dress is no different. It fits well. This is a hodgepodge of a design but it somehow ends up being totally meh. I hate the boots with it. Maybe this dress would have been better floor length with a high slit.

“hodgepodge of a design” – THIS
