Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

A couple of premieres have brought the men to the red carpet yesterday.

Donald Glover: For FX’s premiere of ‘Atlanta Robbin’ Season’ on Monday (February 19), the actor impressed in a Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2018 ensemble that was a handsome alternative to the standard suit. I especially love the buttery, dark-mustard leather jacket here, as it looks so richly suave on Donald.

Joel Edgerton: Joining Jennifer Lawrence, Tallia Storm and Joely Richardson at the ‘Red Sparrow’ London premiere on Monday (February 19), Joel held his own in a Brunello Cucinelli pinstripe suit. However, I did question the length of the pants with his heavy-handed, lace-up shoes, as they seemed such a departure from the more classic, sophisticated tones of the suit.

Lakeith Stanfield: In contrast to Donald’s preppy-sleek look, Lakeith went for a tough-punk vibe at the ‘Atlanta Robbin’ Season’ premiere. The heavy-duty, studded Julien Macdonald Spring 2017 vest was the star attraction, but I have to think that the mask seen around his neck was paying even more direct homage to the crime-filled premise of the show.

Me neither. Joel looks good but those shoes👎

Joel looked like Jennifer’s conservative middle aged dad. The right age as well 🙂

When you look at Joel & Jennifer together on the carpet and it looks like we are still in the 50s in terms of how the different genders dress. The men all conservative and the women in revealing clothes. It’s even worse when she is so much hotter than him.

Whoever cast him next to her must be some kind of a pervert.

Men don’t walk around half naked. They never have and they never will. Men and women will always dress differently, as they should. What gets me is when women are dressed to the nines and men are in jeans and sneakers.

Never have? How many cultures around the world do you have a knowledge of? The red carpet especially in Hollywood seems to be another realm where men are more covered up than a Victorian woman while women look like walking porn.

@meme Yes men and women have dressed differently because the shape of their bodies are different but in no other historical period has one gender come out fully covered and the other half naked like they’re from different climate zones. If Jennifer can show off her cleavage or wear sheer then so can Joel (if he had anything to show off that is) but we live in a patriarchal society.

Donald: Even though its very 70s I really like it with the jacket being the standout

Joel: Nice suit but I would’ve loved it if his pants weren’t so short

Lakeith: From top to bottom, its a big NO

I prefer Joel here. Nice suit. not bothered by the shoes.
The other two are a big no.

      I agree. Joel looks dandy.

I am not a fan of Donald’s 70’s vibe and the other look is even worse.
