Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2018 Launch Event

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2018 launch event took place in New York City on Thursday (February 14), with a host of gorgeous models in attendance.

Danielle Herrington: The cover girl was the golden girl, wearing a beaded Galia Lahav gown with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. While this was her night to shine, I wasn’t fond of the rather dated vibe I’m getting from her gown.

Hailey Clauson: The model showcased simple, sexy elegance in this white Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2018 dress styled with Alexandre Birman’s signature sandals in velvet.

Kate Upton: I love the modern flare of Kate’s Emilio Pucci Fall 2017 orange sequin cut-out dress, even if this is a rerun following Annabelle Wallis. Sam Edelman shoes completed her look.

Ashley Graham: The juxtaposition of the VEX Latex bodysit with the Fleur du Mal satin trench might not sit well with everyone, but I like how Ashley tried something new here.

Lais Ribbeiro: Where you see an Ashish dress, you’ll see sequins. Lais dazzled like a disco-ball in her mini frock styled with Casadei sandals and Jennifer Fisher jewels.

Tyra Banks: I am glad the boss is back, and in the hot seat for ANTM, but her red carpet style will always leave in a constant state of confusion. Such a beautiful woman constantly let down by her stylist. This Labourjoisie is wrong on so many levels. Dated, unflattering, fit for a bonfire.

Olivia Culpo: Even with the over-the-top ruffle, I found myself unimpressed with the Redemption offering. Jimmy Choo silver accessories completed her look.

Barbara Palvin: While I love the idea of this Mugler Fall 2017 dress, I dislike the fit.

Ebonee Davis: There seems there’s a lot going on with Ebonee’s Alfredo Martínez mini, but she carries if off with great aplomb.

Bianca Balti: Usually a Dolce & Gabbana devotee, the model opted for this TRE by Natalie Ratabesi plunging frock which was oozing plenty of boho charm.

Robin Holzken: I know what you’re thinking. Boring and predictable, and “why does anyone want to see your I.D. Sarrieri underwear?” I do kinda love how the Soūk lace dress shimmered under the lights.

Hunter McGrady: The model was vibrant lady in red wearing Z By Zevarra.

I adore the simplicity of Hayley’s look.

    Hayley and Barbara look fine

Just because the event is “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit” does not mean you have to get your boobs out.

Hailey looks perfect. her hair is so great. Lais looks beautiful.

Why do models dress so badly? Except for Lily Aldridge they are honestly all a mess. I only like Hailey here.

Usually, Hailey would only get a ‘she looks fine’ but she definitely stands out here.
Sometimes there are rc looks that just baffle me, because I’m thinking that they must’ve gone through several people, at least one of them getting paid for this, and at no point someone goes ‘wait, this is wrong’. Everybody just gives it a nod, including the person who’s actually wearing it in public! Yes, there is a lot of that sentiment here. Makes me kind of lose faith in humanity every now and then.

+1000000000000 ! Exactly what I think at times… like this!

Hailey’s look is clean simple and by far the best look. The rest of the shiny, short, plunging see-thru try hard looks are just a mess, which is a shame because these are all such stunning ladies.

Other than Hailey, these are all bad. I agree with Mimi about Olivia Culpo. As a former stylist, I cannot believe that Tyra Banks has a stylist. It cannot be that a professional sends her out in some of her looks.

Not impressed with any really. To choose one it be Hailey out of the bunch. But its rather standard looking and I don’t like the shoe ties.

YES! And Annabelle Wallis was better in Pucci, I don´t really like it on Kate Upton.

  10. EmmaWoodhouse February 16, 2018 at 19:00 #

Hailey by a mile. The rest…ugh.

    • AnnieOh February 16, 2018 at 19:53 #

      my thoughts exactly!

I’ve ever seen Danielle Herrington before, she’s a beauty! Shame about her dress…Hailey is easily the best here, Kate is not bad and Barbara could’ve been good if it wasn’t for the fit like you said FC.

Hailey’s white dress is nice and the Mugler is OK. The rest is Tacky Town. Tyra is the absolute worst.

Bianca’s relaxed-sexy look is my favorite here.

“Dated, unflattering, fit for a bonfire.” -> nailed it! and made me laugh.

    • Catherine Kallon February 16, 2018 at 19:21 #

      LOL…good to hear

  15. Mimi February 16, 2018 at 17:04 #

Lais and Hailey are my favorite here. Lais almost never disappoints me. She always looks sexy but classy.

Olivia Culpo needs to run, not walk, back to her former stylist. This dress was even worse from the other angles. I would love to see her in something like Lais, Hailey or even Kate’s dress.
