Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The ‘Detroit’ premiere in Detroit, Michigan on Tuesday (July 25) brought a number of men to the red carpet this week, with the Paris premiere of ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ rounding out this mid-week roundup.

Will Poulter: For the premiere of ‘Detroit,’ Will kept it traditionally safe in a Prada Fall 2017 navy suit sparked with a blue-gray dress shirt and standard maroon tie.

Algee Smith: Also in a Prada Fall 2017 ensemble at the ‘Detroit’ premiere, I was far more jazzed about Algee’s blue number that was only strengthened more by the graphic impact of his patterned yellow-and-black shirting. It made for a punchy yet polished showing that certainly caught my attention.

Anthony Mackie: While too much sheen can be a strike against a look, I still liked Anthony’s bold embrace of colour here, playing off the pinstripe in his blue Isaia suit with the teal dress shirt and tie. It was unusual, yes, but spunky. Salvatore Ferragamo calf-leather, lace-up shoes completed his ‘Detroit’ statement.

Peyton Alex Smith: I couldn’t help but be drawn to Peyton’s laid-back sartorial moment from The Kooples at the ‘Detroit’ premiere. It was coolly nonchalant; the intense blue hue was vibrant; and how can you not love the ‘LOVE’ slippers.

John Boyega: Shades of blue were definitely the fashion theme at the ‘Detroit’ premiere, with John rounding out the mix in his navy suit that likewise was enhanced with a bit of a sheen factor.

Dane DeHaan
: At the ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ Paris premiere on Tuesday (July 25), we may have expected Dane to wear Prada. But he took a detour from his favoured brand for this Dior Homme navy suit styled with an embellished black shirt. The fit seemed a bit off, though, with the bunching of the sleeves and trousers.

Algee Smith is a bolder standout here, although not ideal – I find the statement shoes are competing with the bold shirt quite a bit and the fit of the suit needed to be better. Peyton did fine, loving the slippers. Not crazy about anyone overall.

Dane – damn it, It may not be a colorful printed shirt this time but the look is still in the same ballpark – buttoned up to the top shirt, a dark slightly ill-fitting suit, some dull after-thought shoes….

..I liked Anthony, he’s looking handsome and confident, until I got to the pants – they are too loose at the bottom and needed to be hemmed, also not too fond of that wide tie and the sheen cheapens the suit a bit.
