February 27, 2017 Runway To Red Carpet

Jessica Alba In Ralph & Russo Couture – 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Posted by Emily L. Foley

Jessica Alba made a long-awaited return to the red carpet for the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Sunday night (February 26).

She wore a pale blue Ralph & Russo Couture gown from the Spring 2017 collection.

I want to like this look. I really do.

I appreciate the pastel color in the sea of nudes and whites, and it’s a complete dream in motion on the runway. But somehow, Jessica is giving me ‘Barbie in a 50s dressing gown’ vibes.

Do you see what I mean, or am I crazy? Could a bit more grown-up hair styling have helped elevate the frothy number?

I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention that her jewel-encrusted Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ box clutch is a true work of art, and I appreciate its hard edge against the soft, flowy gown.

Giuseppe Zanotti shoes completed her look.

Terrific color. For some reason, I don’t know how, but it seems heavy on her. Like the frou frou parts are taken over her. She usually does so wonderfully on her looks that I’m a lil surprised.

Looks like a negligee for sure. I can see it in one of those old movies: the starlet slips out of her satin sheets and slides this over her slip or nightgown. The hair and makeup are out of sync with the light frothy nature of the dress. It’s a miss because of that and because as you picked up, it’s a bit ‘costumey’

    I actually like this.

She went wrong with the hair. And the makeup if I’m totally honest.

I agree . I love the dress on her but a sleek chignon would’ve really elevated the look

Totally wrong hair & makeup for this look

The hair is def. a problem. I’m also getting these sugary vibes here.

I do like it, in large part because it is so different.

    Huge dissapointment.

I think the look could have worked if she’d gone with a vintage glamour hairstyle instead of the pony tail. Her hairstyle definitely ruins the look for me. I kind of like the dress although it does look like a dressing gown. However, I feel that with the proper hairstyle and make up, Jessica could have pulled it off.
