Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala Menswear Roundup

Alongside the ladies at the 26th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala held at Palm Springs Convention Center on Saturday (January 3) in Palm Springs, California, was a cluster of handsome gents.

Eddie Redmayne: The recently married ‘Theory of Everything’ actor picked up the Desert Palm Achievement Award looking very sharp once again. Having picked up Best Dressed Male for the third year in a row in 2014, he kicks off the year wearing a Gucci midnight-blue velvet notch-lapel two-button Dylan jacket with intriguing leather detailing, paired with a white dress shirt, black satin bow tie and black wool trousers, adding a smart pair of black patent leather lace-ups to round out his award-winning look. Mrs aka Hannah Bagshawe, was also wearing Gucci.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The ‘Sherlock’ actor wore a classic single-button suit, with the only pop of colour coming from his gorgeous arm candy, fiancée Sophie Hunter, in her Just Cavalli Spring 2015 multicoloured printed maxi dress, which sees her move away from her beloved Erdem on this rare occasion.

David Oyelowo: The British actor picked up this Breakthrough Performance Award for ‘Selma’ at the event, wearing a gold shimmering suit styled with a black shirt, silk tie and suede shoes. Sadly, I can’t say I am a fan of the suit, but I do applaud the fact that he never plays it safe on the red carpet. On the other hand his wife Jessica looked gorgeous in a coral-hued dress.

Brad Pitt: Before presenting the award to David, the actor took it upon himself to teach the audience how to pronounce David Oyelowo’s last name, much to the amusement of the crowd. He stuck to a classic midnight-blue tux with pops of colour coming from the most unlikely place – his nails. Each nail was painted with a different colour, no doubt the handiwork of his young daughters.
