New York Fashion Week Beauty Trend: Fresh, Dewy Skin
Thereâs nothing better than clear, fresh-looking skinâand we saw exactly that during fashion week. From subtly sculpted cheeks to the perfect placement of highlighter, this look is not only wearable, but itâs totally easy to imitate.
The look at Diane von Furstenberg was ballerina chic. Makeup artist James Kaliardos focused on the contouring of the modelsâ cheeks by using different shades of concealer. He widened their eyes with a nude liner just on the waterline and topped off the lids with a creamy gray shade and a mauve lip hue for additional sheen. Finishing off with coats of mascara, he truly made the models look as if they were ready for their final bow.
Diane Kendal, for Prabal Gurung, skipped powder to keep a dewy finish for her look. She started with MAC Cosmetics Face and Body foundation as a base and then layered on a rosy cream blush, for the ultimate âflushedâ appearance. Brows were brushed up, for a touch of unruly youth. Kendal wanted very little color in the lips, so she applied just a hint of foundation to tone down color.
Rag & Bone also debuted highlighted features and clean skin, but with a twist. Makeup artist Gucci Westman was inspired by Katharine Hepburn and created a contrasting, thick line of black liner that flicked into a wing at the ends. He used pointed Q-tips to clean up the liner shape, making it look really graphic.
Rose and apricot were the shade combo that Tom Pecheux used on modelsâ cheeks at the Ralph Lauren show. His trick to perfectly flushed apples? Instead of swiping the brush onto the skin, he pushes it in. âOtherwise it just sits on top,â he explained. The top lashes were given generous coats of Estee Lauderâs Sumptuous Two Tone Mascara in black, and the bottom in brown.
