Metropolitan Opera Season Opening Production Of ‘Eugene Onegin’ Red Carpet Roundup
While the 2013 Emmy Award trophies were trending in Los Angeles, California, a host of stars came out to walk another red carpet across the States in New York City for The Metropolitan Opera’s season opening production of ‘Eugene Onegin’ on Sunday.
Coco Rocha: The model was appropriately striking and statuesque, as she strutted out a Greta Constantine midnight-blue gown. The architectural silhouette, intricate folded detailing, mock peplum waist and shoulder cutouts all had me at hello. An exaggerated, winged cat eye and bright coral pout brought even more drama.
Mischa Barton: Putting a sophisticated foot forward, the actress wore a Valentina Kova robe dress, punched through with a bold, cerulean blue waistband. A thigh-high slit showed off her black Walter Steiger pumps, which couldn’t help but be outdone by that over-the-top feather clutch. She opted for the no-makeup look, but a bold lip may have been beneficial here.
Patricia Clarkson: The flame-haired actress sparkled in a Philosophy Fall 2013 black gown, accented with an appropriate plunge neckline and a shower of glittering embellishment at the waist.
Brooke Shields: Brooke took on the evening with a dark-brown caped gown, accessorized with gold, metallic cuffs and a reptilian clutch. I like where this look was going, but I wish her pompadour-style updo had been slightly less strict.
Amy Ryan: The actress’s Alberta Ferretti number was perhaps a bit too monochrome for its own good, as the sheer lace bodice seemed to be at odds with the geometric, black-and-white colour-blocking of the dress. She added another strong touch with a severe topknot and a teal clutch.
Dana Delany: Opting for short rather than long, Dana dazzled in a black lace, sequin cocktail frock, finished with a sweep of her red waves along with a rather nondescript black envelope clutch and black pumps.
