MAC & Carine Roitfeld ‘Le Bal’

I hope you all keep up with my tweets and Instagram pictures from the MAC & Carine Roitfeld ‘Le Bal’ celebrations which took place yesterday at the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild during Paris Fashion Week.

One of the first to arrive was the lovely Karlie Kloss, my hero, who looked gorgeous wearing an Alexander Wang Spring 2013 fresh-off-the-runway look.

She got the ‘smoky eye’ memo, as did Poppy Delevingne, who smouldered on the red carpet wearing an Emilio Pucci black long-sleeve dress with a gold dragon from the recent Spring 2013 collection.

Carine Roitfeld arrived wearing signature all black Givenchy avec smoky eyes, the inspiration for the whole evening.

Giovanna Battaglia took the inspiration one step further by opting for a Batgirl look.

Julia Restoin Roitfeld worked a smoky eye wearing a black Dolce & Gabbana lace dress with a velvet waistband. I loved her golden clutch.

Ulyana Sergeenko didn’t steer from her signature aesthetic, wearing a gown from her Fall 2012 Couture collection sans smoky eyes.

Caroline Sieber opted for a fresh, summery look giving us our first look at the Christopher Kane Spring 2013 collection on the red carpet. Thankfully the black pumps fade into the black carpet.

Cara Delevingne opted for a summery Pucci frock with a keyhole detail and a thigh-high slit which showcased her gold strappy platform sandals.

Rachel Zoe attended wearing a ruffled Viktor & Rolf creation which she styled with a black sparkling clutch and diamond necklace. She too sported a smoky eye, as did her husband Rodger Berman and many other gentlemen at the event who adhered to the ‘black tie, smoky eye’ dress code.

Keeping to the black dress code, Anna Dello Russo wore a beautiful Ulyana Sergeenko gown with Bulgari jewels. Even under her extravagant hat, you can still see she is sporting a smoky eye.

Natalia Vodianova wore an elegant black Givenchy gown with a Louis Vuitton clutch.

Once inside the venue, the celebrities enjoyed the drinks and canapés whilst listening to Paloma Faith who performed an amazing set with her band.

FC, just curious, why is Karlie Kloss your hero?

It was just a joke…I like her as a model, because she actually works the runway.

So many people overdid the smokey eye…in particular Carine and Julia. The only ones who stand out here in a good way are Ulyana, whose Victorian mod look is BDOTW-worthy, and Natalia, who looks equally fantastic in her elegant gown.

either that was a very messy event invitation or celebrities do love skipping dress codes outta purpose. among the ones dressed according to the theme, ADR is the best. Carine looks awful. I can easily mistake her for the lead singer of a black metal band.

I would be pretty mad if people showed up to my event blatantly disregarding the dress code. Love that the guys had smokey eyes too lol

Not particularly enamoured with most of the looks including Carine’s but the dramatic Ulyana Sergeenko gowns worked well here for the slightly costumey fashion event is was. Cara looked good in her fun outfit.
I flabbergasted that Caroline Sieber is supposed to be a stylist and would pair that light delicate dress- not crazy about the bra part- with black pumps!

“Smokey eyes”? Please, half of people (including Carine) look like they are disguising as raccoon.

Karlie Kloss, Natalia Vodianova and Anna dello Russo are my favorites.

Carine looks truly terrifying in this shot…

Cara Delevingne looks absolutely incredible. BDOTW material for me. I love it head to toe.
As for the rest of the guests, horror show? What can you say about the quality of the outifts at a party when even with that hideous hat Anna Dello Russo is still one of the best dressed?
And what happened to Rachel Zoe? She’s basically skin and bones. Awful…

The Ulyana Sergeenko gown on Anna Dello Russo is spectacular, loving the drama of her look, while Ulyana Sergeenko herself unfortunately is looking like she is wearing a historical costume.
Poppy Delevingne and Natalia Vodyanova also stand out in a good way to me.

    Karlie is my favorite~

  13. Bluebell October 3, 2012 at 5:28 pm #

Natalia Vodianova’s gown and belt, I believe, is by Givenchy

  14. Eirwen October 3, 2012 at 5:08 pm #

Cara Delevingne surely kicked asses. But that was easy, most of the rest is very very VERY bad.

I checked up on your Instagram feed yesterday night. I was excited to Karlie, Caroline, and Poppy wearing Spring 2013 looks. It was great especially to see Christopher Kane.

I want to see your Pucci Dress, FC!

This is the only somber event that I don’t mind. LOL. Due to the dress code and smokey eye makeup.

But Rachel Zoe dress? Not good.

    My Top 3
Karlie Kloss, Caroline Sieber and Anna

Love Anna’s look, that hat is amazing.

  18. Erika October 3, 2012 at 3:04 pm #

Any nice photos of Paloma? 🙂

  19. gusmex October 3, 2012 at 3:03 pm #

it´s anna and ulyana wearing the same gown in different colors?

  20. dee October 3, 2012 at 2:15 pm #

I only like Natalia Vodianova’s look.

  21. Thomas October 3, 2012 at 2:10 pm #

FC we want to see the Pucci you wore 🙂

    • TeaAtTwo October 3, 2012 at 10:37 pm #

Yes! I’d to see your interpretation of the dress code for party.

    • Hannah October 4, 2012 at 1:53 pm #

      Me too!

  22. Beta October 3, 2012 at 1:48 pm #

Julia Restoin Roitfeld could do with a little less eye makeup imo. (and that DG dress is a mess)
Carine’s makeup is a bit unfortunate too, but maybe its the light…
Everyone else looks very intersting. I dig Giovanna Battaglia’s sense of fashion. And I love Ulyana Sergeenko. Just love her style!

  23. Agathe October 3, 2012 at 1:34 pm #

Anna Dello Russo nails it. What a style!
What happened to Madame Roitfeld? How can you throw a make-up themed party and mess up your own somkey eye and foundation and lips like this??

  24. Stephanie October 3, 2012 at 1:06 pm #

Looks like a high fashion funeral 🙂

  25. J October 3, 2012 at 1:00 pm #

Seriously, how hard can it possibly be to stick to a ‘black tie, smoky eye’ dress code? Part of your job is to get dressed for these events people!

  26. CC October 3, 2012 at 12:56 pm #

is it just me, or is carine really, really hard to look at here? that eye make up is not doing her any favors….

    • carolina October 4, 2012 at 2:36 am #

I think she would fit right in to the Night of the Living Dead, and the makeup and clothing aid that impression quite well.

  27. Yeliz October 3, 2012 at 12:40 pm #

Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne are my favourites. I also like Anna Dello Russo’s gown, but not the rest.
