Tess Daly In Max Mara - National Television Awards 2014

Tess Daly made a sartorial impact on the red carpet of the National Television Awards 2014 last night (January 22) held at the O2 in London.

The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ host opted for chic wide-leg jumpsuit with gold-trimmed waist belt by Max Mara.

With a black blazer coolly slung over her shoulders, this was a stand-out look that ticked all the right boxes for me.

Choosing a gold pair of Gianvito Rossi pumps and silver Wilber & Gussie clutch, Tess ensured her look had edge while ensuring the styling wasn’t overly complicated.  This is actually a look I can imagine a Hollywood A-lister sporting so bravo Tess, what a great look.

To finish, the former model opted for an orangey red lip and glossy waved hair to keep the look understated and luxurious.

Ashley Roberts In Manning Cartell - National Television Awards 2014

Former Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts took to the red carpet last night for the National Television Awards 2014 (January 22), held at the O2 Arena in London

Wearing an on-trend metallic dress by Manning Cartell for the occasion, the TV presenter made a striking turn at the event.

Having seen Ashley in a mix of long flowing gowns and sexy mini dresses in the past, it was great to see her experiment with a new look.

Ashley is also one of the first stars we’ve spotted trailing the new season’s key metallic trend so cedit where credits due, but I can’t help but feel Ashley suits more feminine dresses rather than this directional turn.

Ashley’s mix of a dark purple lip and slicked back hair feels too severe. To be fair, it suits the modernity of the dress but a softer lip shade would have been much more flattering.

I do however love the combination of the midi length and split – it’s so much more sexy showing a subtle flash of flesh don’t you think?

Sheridan Smith In Nicholas Oakwell Couture - National Television Awards 2014

BAFTA winning actress Sheridan Smith took to the red carpet at the 2014 National Television Awards at the O2 Arena in London yesterday evening (January 22).

Wearing a Nicholas Oakwell Couture floor-length dress and with her hair in a retro beehive, Sheridan looked quite the 60s starlet.

You may remember that we’ve seen Portia Freeman wear this same dress to the 2012 British Fashion Awards. The two ladies each put a their own unique spin on it.

Instead of following in Portia’s rockier model look, Sheridan turned this bronze and brown sequin column dress into an altogether more sophisticated get-up which was reminiscent of a retro movie heroine.

To finish the look, Sheridan chose a small black clutch and sky-high heels in order not to distract from the sleek hair and make-up, and of course, the stand-out dress.

I’m actually surprised by how covered up Sheridan is here, especially considering her height, but it works. It’s quirky and genuinely refreshing to see her try something different.

Michelle Keegan In Philip Armstrong Atelier - National Television Awards 2014

Michelle Keegan made a stunning appearance at the 2014 National Television Awards in London on Wednesday evening (January 22).

Wearing a floor-length gown by Philip Armstrong Atelier, Michelle showed off her enviable figure to maximum effect with this strikingly elegant figure-hugging dress, topped off with an Oscar-worthy train.

Remaining true to her Coronation Street roots, the TV star opted for a pair of shoes by high street favourite Next. What a great decision by Michelle, after all, an expensive pair would have been so unnecessary don’t you think?

In addition to the statement chandelier earrings, all Michelle really needed to complement this beautiful gown was her glowing tan, which the bright fabric complemented to a tee.

As Michelle continues to plan her upcoming nuptials with Mark Wright, we’d like to think this might be something like her bridal gown.

Kelly Brook In Ossie Clark - National Television Awards 2014

All eyes were on Kelly Brook last night (January 22) as she attended the 2014 National Television Awards held at the London O2 arena.

Wearing a daringly cut vintage Ossie Clark dress with billowing sleeves and revealing thigh-high split, Kelly was dressed to impress in this uber-sexy retro gown.

But history repeated itself in an extremely unexpected way as Kelly got caught in an unfortunate case of no bra and intense flashbulbs, just as Nicole Scherzinger had done so in exactly the same dress at the 2013 National Television Awards. Yes, that’s right; both stars wore the same dress just one year apart.

So I have to ask, did Kelly know about this before deciding on the dress? I find it really hard to believe she didn’t, but what do you think?

Controversy aside, this is an amazingly alluring and sophisticated look. Kelly’s old-Hollywood waves, lashings of gold jewellery and slick of red polish were just what were needed for achieving her retro glamour-puss vibe.

Altogether this is the perfect red carpet look for Kelly, it’s just shame about the unnecessary attention isn’t it?

Laura Whitmore In LA Mania - National Television Awards 2014

Laura Whitmore made quite an appearance on the red carpet of the 2014 National Television Awards at London’s O2 on Wednesday (January 22).

Not one to shy away from trying new looks, this monochrome LA Mania dress from the Spring 2014 collection is no exception.

With a midriff-baring front cut-out panel, dramatic stepped hem and really unnecessary grid-like panel lining, this was one of the most striking dresses of the evening, but for all the wrong reasons.

Fortunately Laura did claw back some sartorial points by opting for a pair of simple black Kurt Geiger pumps and a white clutch which blended in with the stand-out dress.  A chic, loose up-do and a flash of red lippy pulled the look together and some Stephen Webster jewels were the finishing touch.

I’m always keen to see stars try out new and experimental looks but is it just me or is this just too much? Laura can get it so right normally so I’m sure this just a minor blip…
