Red Carpet Fashion Awards

DemiLovatoInLanvin2014VMA

Demi Lovato was a striking lady in red on the red carpet of the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards tonight (August 24) at The Forum in Los Angeles.

The spunky singer wore a long-sleeved Lanvin gown in a stunning red that looked beautiful with her skintone and showed off plenty of her assets.

She paired the dress with a Charlotte Olympia clutch in a matching red hue, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and MARINA B earrings and a Repossi ear cuff.

A sideswept ‘do that showed off her half-buzz, radiant skin, matte red lips and lush lashes were the perfect representation of Demi’s personal brand of ladylike punk.

Gwen Stefani In L.A.M.B. - 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA

Gwen Stefani also joined the celeb set at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA, held at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday (August 24).

The entertainer and ‘The Voice’ judge wore a self-designed L.A.M.B. ensemble that featured a structured bustier-inspired top and skinny pants in a high-octane shade of pink with black accents.

The party was definitely in the front of this little two-tone number, as catching a glimpse of Gwen from the back delivered a completely different, more subdued effect.

She rolled her platinum locks into a slightly retro twist on one side, but that fuchsia-pink lip was 100 percent modern.

Statement-making Lorraine Schwartz jewels and black sheer-lace pumps served to provide even more punch for this pop-star look.

Kim Kardashian In Balmain - 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA

Kim Kardashian was on the red carpet at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday (August 24), where she was supporting her nominee-husband Kanye West.

Also one of the evening’s presenters, the reality star surely suffered no shortage of stares in her attention-grabbing Resort 2015 number from one of her currently favoured design houses, Balmain.

The heavily beaded mini-dress featured an interesting cape-like shape. Yet, even the leggy nature of the look plus all that graphic red and black patterning couldn’t detract from the focal point of that plunge.

She styled the look with Balmain black woven cage shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewels, not to mention bombshell waves and a sultry nude lip.

LordeInChanel2014VMA

As is her habit, Lorde avoided the red carpet at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards tonight (August 24) at The Forum in Los Angeles, and went straight into the show.

But thanks to the singer’s Instagram feed, we were able to see that she’s rocking a long velvet jumpsuit from Chanel’s Fall 2014 collection.

This look is perfectly in line with Lorde’s dark and mysterious sense of fashion, and her natural curls blown out smooth and a bold purple lip complete her glamorous but dark ensemble.

KatyPerryInVersace2014VMA

Katy Perry and rapper Riff Raff made quite the splash on the red carpet at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards tonight (August 24) at The Forum in Los Angeles.

In what most people immediately recognized as a throwback to the now iconic matching denim ensembles that then-couple Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wore to the 2001 American Music Awards, the pair rocked seriously blinged out Atelier Versace numbers.

There is going to be a lot of hate thrown at these looks, because let’s be honest: they are hideous, but a good sense of humor goes a really long way on the red carpet, and we all know Katy loves a good costume, so why not have a little fun?

And from the chin up, Katy looks divine. Glossy hair, red lips, winged eyeliner: It’s classic glamour at its best.

Chloe Grace Moretz In Louis Vuitton - 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA

Chloe Grace Moretz was also at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday (August 24).

In a sea of exposed midriffs and half-crazy, skin-is-in concoctions, the starlet stood out for her covered-up approach on the red carpet.

Continuing to show her love for style-forward design, she was pretty in pink, rocking a Louis Vuitton Resort 2015 embellished, belted magenta top and bubblegum-hued pants, completed by matching neon-magenta sandals.

Was it a look I was expecting to see tonight? No. But, given the slightly jarring clash of rosy hues seen in this sartorial medley, she still coloured outside the lines just a bit for the unorthodox spirit of the VMAs.

Retro-inspired, bouffant-style waves completed her look.

Aside from the ensemble looking a bit warm-ish for the summer weather, I think what is putting me off are those Pepto-Bismol pink trousers.
