Katy Perry in Atelier Versace – 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

Finally, Someone Who Got Into The Spirit Of The MTV Awards
Katy Perry attended the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards last night at The Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles with hubby Russell Brand.

The singer went all out in a geisha style Atelier Versace Fall 2011 mini dress, embroidered with cherry blossom-shaped sequins and crystals on a baby blue background made of neoprene sequins.

She continued the Asian-inspired theme by wearing a cherry blossom flower in her candy pink curly hair and carrying a parasol which matched her dress.

This is a cute, fun look for Katy and pretty much what you’d expect from her. It won’t be to everyone’s taste, but at least she step out of the box unlike a lot of others.

Pretty eye makeup and pink lipstick, pink Jimmy Choo’ Beak’ sandals and Lorraine  Schwartz’s  signature  18K  pink  gold  and  diamond  2B Happy  bracelet  and  a  diamond  and  coral  ring completed her look.

Katie Holmes In Azzedine Alaia – 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

Worst Shoes Award
Katie Holmes attended the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in LA tonight.

The beautiful actress wore an Azzedine Alaia halter dress.

Her ultra-feminine dress would’ve been perfect with a pair of striking heels, but instead she opted for tan Proenza Schouler suede ‘Snub-Nose’ ankle noots.

I don’t think an Alaia dress has ever been this close to horrific shoes.

This is such a shame because everything else (excluding that pose) is perfect from her glossy waves to her flawless make-up.

Zoe Saldana In Barbara Bui – 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

Most Effortless Award
Tonight is turning out to be a very somber red carpet at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.

Zoe Saldana wore a Barbara Bui Fall 2011 LBD.

Her tweed mini dress was embellished with gold and silver military-style details and leather panels.

Judging by the runway this wasn’t supposed to be a top, but Zoe uses the tunic to showcase her slender legs.

Zoe accessorized her mini with Barbara Bui snake-skin heels, a black clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels which included diamond  earrings, a diamond  Elephant  ring,  a black  Sapphire  and  diamond  bangle plus a yellow  gold  and onyx bracelet.

A chic updo and smoky eyes completed her look.

Kelly Rowland In Falguni & Shane Peacock – 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

Most Expected Award
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards wouldn’t be the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards without at least one Falguni & Shane Peacock dress on the red carpet.

I think it’s the law as far as this event is concerned.

Kelly Rowland donned this gorgeous creation from the designers Fall 2011 collection on the red carpet tonight.

So far there have been a lot of black looks, but I do love this one.

The gold embroidered dress with a feathered skirt and leather harness-style detail wrapped around her waist is the perfect sexy, confident look I would expect from Kelly.

Her look would’ve been significantly better if Kelly had opted for a better hairstyle (when will she retire that awful wig?)

Christian Louboutin Lady Peep Spikes peep-toes and a black clutch completed her look.

Selena Gomez In Julien Macdonald – 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

Too Dark & Too Gothic Award
Selena Gomez co-hosted the Pre-Show at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards which was held tonight in LA at the Nokia Theatre.

The petite actress chose an intricate black Julien MacDonald Fall 2011 dress.

Her gothic look features a high lace neckline, a short skirt in the front and an overlay in the back with a longer train.

Selena brightened up her dark ensemble by adding gold accessories, including Brian Atwood pumps, a Judith Leiber metallic box clutch, Lorraine Schwartz Ofira gold drop earrings with black stones and a gorgeous black and gold Lorraine Schwartz Ofira cuff.

She finished her look by pulling her hair back into a casual bun and wearing pink lip-gloss.

I love Selena’s accessories but think her dress is a little too sophisticated for the MTV VMA Awards.

I wish she had opted for something brighter, younger and more fun.

Louise Roe In Tibi – 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

Louise Roe attended the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in LA tonight looking like she just stepped off a plane from St. Tropez.

The British TV presenter looked bronzed and super summery in this pretty Tibi halter maxi dress.

Her taupe maxi has a colourful beaded and a jeweled neckline was paired with a red transparent Edie Parker ‘Lara’ clutch, gold cocktail ring and strappy metallic heels.

She finished her look by styling her hair in a relaxed side ponytail and rimming her eyes with black liner, which I feel was a bit too heavy for this look.

I do love her coral nail polish though which complements her summer vibe perfectly.
