Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Rita Ora In Barbara Casasola - MTV Movie Awards 2014Rita Ora also took to the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards 2014, held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Sunday (April 13).

Much like Nicki Minaj, Rita donned a figure-flaunting, structured black Barbara Casasola Fall 2014 gown, hers also a rather restrained statement, save for the plunge neckline that provided a good dose of décolletage.

Serving up a bit of kitschy sass with the more formal appeal of her dress, she carried a fun ‘Hold It’ message clutch in gold and black by Edie Parker.

She further accessorized with a dainty Jennifer Fisher necklace, alongside a selection of not-so-delicate, door-knocker cocktail rings and statement earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.

Voluminous platinum, bombshell waves and her standard red lip completed the look.

Lupita Nyong’o In Chanel Fall 2014 – MTV Movie Awards 2014Lupita Nyong’o was among the mega stars at the MTV Movie Awards 2014, hosted at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Sunday (April 13).

I couldn’t have been more excited to see her strutting out a thrilling look from the sassy, style-forward supermarket that was Karl Lagerfeld’s Fall 2014 collection for Chanel.

Her artsy frock was itself a major confection—an indulgent feast of lollipop hues, abstractly sliced, spun and melted together like a mix of Skittles and posh Pixie Stix, and topped off by statement shoulder sleeves, embellished with jelly bean-hued paillettes.

This is my kind of Candy Land.

Instead of the runway’s tall sneaker boots, she wore another pair of her deliciously hued shoes, this time completing the dress with searing, cerulean-blue Casadei ‘Blade’ pumps.

As per usual, the flawless makeup was fully in place, including a smoky, metallic eye and apple-red lip.

J’adore.

Victoria Justice In Atelier Versace - MTV Movie Awards 2014

Victoria Justice made a splash on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards 2014 held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday (April 13).

The actress wore a modified Atelier Versace dress from the designer’s Fall 2012 collection.

The eye-catching shade and intricate detailing make this dress a real stunner, and the modification from the runway makes it completely wearable and event-apropos.

A silver box Edie Parker clutch, dramatic Brian Atwood platforms and long diamond earrings continue to deliver ‘wow’ factor.

A sleek ponytail and va-va-voom lashes are perfect for the look, but my one complaint is the matchy-matchy fluorescent pink lipstick. While the color in and of itself is fun, matching the lip to the dress in this case pushes the whole look toward an ‘iffy’ category it just didn’t need to be anywhere near.

What do you think–is the lip too much, or a fun addition to the look?

Nicki Minaj In Alexander McQueen - MTV Movie Awards 2014Nicki Minaj slinked onto the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards 2014 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Sunday (April 13). And, in doing so, she gave me quite the shock of the night.

Rather than parading about in her unapologetically bizarro concoctions, the pint-sized rapper was rather subdued—at least by her standards—in a refined Alexander McQueen figure-scraping, black gown.

While the dress called attention to her hourglass curves, it did so demurely. The loudest shout in this look came from the Midas accessories, as she loaded up on the gold.

In addition to her Cleopatra necklace and earrings, she rocked the same McQueen arm cuffs that we previously saw on Sienna Miller earlier this year.

I have to say that I barely recognized the entertainer without her Rainbow-Brite fashion, nor her over-the-top Crayola makeup and platinum, bleach-blonde locks, which were replaced by sleek, dark Veronica Lake waves and the flick of a cat-eye.

Perhaps her cameo in ‘The Other Woman’ with Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton has softened her fashion sense, transforming the style chameleon into a more sophisticated, yet still-edgy vamp star.

Chrissy Teigen In Ulyana Sergeenko Couture - MTV Movie Awards 2014

Chrissy Teigen took a gorgeous turn on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards 2014 held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday (April 13).

The model and wife of singer John Legend wore short and sweet Ulyana Sergeenko Spring 2014 Couture cocktail dress paired with black Christian Louboutin pumps.

This dress is the perfect flirty number for the event and to show off Chrissy’s enviable assets. Her legs rival the runway model’s–an impressive feat.

Chrissy’s gorgeous ombre hair is styled to perfection and giving everyone major hair envy, and her simple makeup and classic red manicure are red carpet beauty done right.

The only jewels this look needed were her stunning wedding rings.

Bravo, Chrissy.

Holland Roden In Salvatore Ferragamo - MTV Movie Awards 2014Holland Roden was also at the MTV Movie Awards 2014, held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Sunday (April 13).

The ‘Teen Wolf’ star wore a Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2014 nude leather sheath dress, matched to a prim Ferragamo box clutch.

The frock might have benefited from the loss of its belted, half-pleated skirt detail, which looked every bit like a kilt.

However, on this occasion, I was simply enamoured by the styling that really saved the ensemble. With an impossibly mod and still-chic sensibility, Holland rocked a spit-slick ponytail along with flashes of hot, hot-pink in her Brian Atwood pumps, lip lacquer and nails.

A sprinkling of Philosophy jewels and on-trend Meira T ear cuffs was all she needed to complete this look, which was more about the accessories than the dress.
