Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Model @ The 2013 Met Gala

Here is a roundup of the models who took to the red carpet at the 2013 Met Gala on Monday night.

Cara Delevingne: Wearing Burberry, the British model nailed the theme, working a studded navy column dress with a plunging neckline. Her part-braided ‘do and studded clutch perfected her look. She was easily one of the best on the night.

Gisele Bundchen: The model wore an Anthony Vaccarello Fall 2013 black mini dress with revealing grommet detailing. You slammed Gwyneth for wearing a gown with sheer sides; does Gisele get a pass?

Karlie Kloss: I never thought I would say this about Karlie: she looks frumpy. Ever since she chopped off her locks she has lost her mojo. This Louis Vuitton granny-chic look ages her about 40 years. Betty White would look better in this frock.

Emma Watson In Prabal Gurung - 2013 Met Gala

Emma Watson finally broke her run of wearing mini printed dresses when she took to the red carpet on Monday evening for the 2013 Met Gala in New York City.

The British actress opted for a New York based designer, wearing a Prabal Gurung custom made gown inspired by the Fall 2013 collection.

Her silk crepe satin gown with cut-outs and a thigh high slit shows an even more confident side to the young actress. She really does love to show off those legs.

Black Rupert Sanderson ‘Selma’ t-bar pumps, Fred Leighton earrings including a diamond stud and a diamond and black enamel dart pendant earring and a simple bun completed her look.

Do you like that Emma continues to have fun with fashion or is this too revealing for you?

Zoe-Saldana-In-Prabal-Gurung-Star-Trek-Into-The-Darkness-London-Promo-Tour

Aside from the ‘Star Trek Into The Darkness’ London premiere, Zoe Saldana has been wearing many other looks which are worthy of our admiration during her stay in London.

On Saturday night she will appear on the Jonathan Ross show wearing a Roland Mouret ‘Dalefield’ dress, however, she has had two more looks.

Prior to Thursday nights premiere she attended a photocall with her co-stars at Tower Bridge wearing a Prabal Gurung Fall 2013 ensemble.

Her crimson-and-indigo folkloric denim jacquard seamed peplum jacket paired with a matching asymmetrical cutaway skirt was even worn with the leather harness – I love how she made it work for a chic daytime look without looking costumey.

Nude Louboutins and wavy locks completed the look.

WWIB Prabal Gururng

Back in June, Zoe Saldana attended the 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards wearing a Prabal Gurung Fall 2012 gown.

Her daring black gown with a plunging neckline, sheer inserts and a flowing chiffon skirt was simply styled with a bun and smoky eyes. This gown definitely ranks highly in Prabal Gurung’s hall of fame, alongside Zoe’s red ‘Star Trek’ look – which was the designer’s red carpet debut – and Jennifer Lawrence’s gold ‘Hunger Games’ gown.

At the time, I said I couldn’t imagine anyone else doing justice to this gown, but Deepika Padukone made me eat my words when she wore the same gown earlier this year to the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards in Andheri, Mumbai.

She also opted to keep the styling simple, but she did take the look up a notch with a bold red lip colour.

Honestly, there is not a lot in it. I will give this to Zoe as I preferred her Nicholas Kirkwood heels over Deepika’s sparkling pumps.

Nikki Reed In Prabal Gurung & Brittany Snow In Duro Olowu - Vogue 'Triple Threats' Dinner

Patterns and prints definitely proved to be the evening’s main dish at Vogue’s ‘Triple Threat’ dinner, hosted last week by Sally Singer and Lisa Love, at Goldie’s in Los Angeles.

Two more examples of the trend du jour were PYTs Nikki Reed and Brittany Snow, who posed together in their power prints—each with tousled bobs, perfectly shorn for spring.

Nikki wore a short-sleeve Prabal Gurung frock, featuring an exploded, abstract blue-lily design that looked everything like a high-fashion Rorschach test.

Her Manolo Blahnik black sling-backs could have been more interesting, but they did let the dress do all the talking. I would love to see the Prada necklace when it’s not lost in the shuffle of a trippy floral kaleidoscope print.

As for Brittany, her Duro Olowu printed design was chaotic and cool with its strong nod to Jackson Pollock. The bold tea-length dress was toned down with simple gold sandals by Aquazurra and a pale-pink DVF clutch.

Even though the denim jacket paid homage to Triple Threat’s sartorial theme, I would have left this uninspired version at home.

That punchy red-orange lip may have been my favorite addition to this look.

You can buy Brittany’s Citizens of Humanity ‘Borderline’ jacket from
Revolve Clothing, Bloomingdale’s, Bloomingdales UK and Piperlime.

Obama in Prabal Gurung copy

Dressed in their Easter Sunday best, President Obama, Michelle Obama and their daughters, Sasha and Malia, attended an Easter service yesterday at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C.

The family were captured making the short walk from the White House across Lafayette Park to St. John’s, known as the “Church of the Presidents”.

Even though Barack wore a dapper grey suit, and Sasha caught my eye in her cute bi-colour dress and checked cardigan, my focus was on Mrs O.

The First Lady wore a Prabal Gurung Spring 2010 dress, which she first wore back in 2010 at the Smithsonian debut of her Jason Wu inaugural gown.

Her light-grey dress, which features a brush-painted rose print, was styled with a chic coat from the same collection, which also featured the same print on the back, and grey kitten heels.

You’ll remember that her bangs have made headline news, and after seeing her here I’m once again considering this hairstyle for myself.
