Gucci Dinner In Honour of Alessandro Michele

Gucci Dinner In Honour of Alessandro Michele

Following Gucci’s Spring 2016 fashion show, François-Henri Pinault hosted a dinner party in honour of Alessandro Michele yesterday evening (September 23) in Milan, Italy.

Dakota Johnson: Following her FROW look and with so many interesting options available to her, I was slightly underwhelmed by Dakota’s Gucci Resort 2016 look. The Gucci metallic GG Marmont pumps try to lift the look, but I think the biggest detractor here are the tights.

Salma Hayek: We all know that Salma is at her best when her sex appeal is out to play, so I can’t say I am too enamoured by this Gucci Resort 2016 yellow skirt suit. The whole look read mother of the bride. Bring back sexy Salma.

Alexa Chung: The TV presenters fashion month usually skips Milan, but it would appear that Gucci have taken her under their wing this season, and I can’t say I’m surprised. Alessandro Michele granny-chic, glam-geek, androgynous aesthetic is perfectly suited to her style. On this occasion her Gucci Resort 2016 collection metallic gold pleated skirt provided the glam while her multi-coloured sweater brings out the geek.

Gucci Spring 2016 Front Row

Gucci Spring 2016 Front Row

A group of Gucci-donning pretties were seated front row at the Gucci Spring 2016 show held during Milan Fashion Week on Wednesday (September 23) in Milan, Italy.

Dakota Johnson: This Gucci Fall 2015 frock, accented by a bow collar and bee brooches, saw the ‘Black Mass’ actress exploring the rich colourway of burgundy along with more ruffles and embellishment than we sometimes see from her sleekly simple statements. However, it only proved that this brand of feminine charm works for her just, as well.

Salma Hayek: Her Resort 2016 look likewise had a touch of darlingness with the embroidered sweater serving up a sweet retro sensibility balanced by iconic horsebit-belted skirt. I love the pop of the red leather Gucci GG ‘Marmont’ clutch that plays off the floral patchwork. The massive platform pumps were less successful.

Alexa Chung: While part of me wished to see the full detail of this Resort 2015 vintage-leaning dress and its embellished collar, the other part of me was just as happy about the chicly clean, modern edge that the black coat provided in pairing with the horsebit natural fur Gucci slippers.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a quick roundup of some of the leading men taking to the red carpet so far this week.

Luke Evans: The Welsh actor joined Sienna Miller on the red carpet for the ‘High-Rise’ San Sebastian Film Festival premiere yesterday evening. Looking quite the modern gentleman, the actor wore a Thom Sweeney plaid three-piece suit which would’ve been a perfect look had it not been for the shoes.

Hugh Jackman: The Australian actor joined a host of stars including Rooney Mara and Cara Delevingne for the world premiere of ‘Pan’ on Sunday (September 20). Like so many actors in recent times, he selected a Burberry Tailoring suit which was classic in style and possessed unrivalled finesse.

Tom Hiddleston: While Tom looked as sharp as always at the ‘High Rise’ premiere, it begrudges me to say that I prefer Tom dressed in blue.

Salma Hayek In Gucci - 'Septembers of Shiraz' Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Salma Hayek attended the ‘Septembers of Shiraz’ premiere during the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival at Roy Thomson Hall on Tuesday (September 15) in Toronto, Canada.

The actress wore a Gucci raspberry dress laced with rhinestone detailing.

Had this been full-length I would probably be salivating over it.

Sadly, this style of dress is all too familiar for Salma plus its lacking pizzazz – despite the rhinestones – for a festival premiere.

2015 Toronto Film Festival Weekend Roundup

The 2015 Toronto International Film Festival red carpet was filled with even more stars this past weekend. Here, a look at the beauties making the rounds at the premieres.

Toni Colette: The actress brought her own sunshine in tow at the ‘Miss You Already’ premiere, where she swept onto the scene in an Oscar de la Renta white shell top and a bustling marigold-yellow skirt hailing from the Resort 2016 collection. I wanted to take a steamer to the skirt and strip that gold cuff away from the look, which was completed with an Edie Parker pearlescent clutch.

Saoirse Ronan: I didn’t find this Chanel Resort 2015 speckled sweater and white trouser combo all that flattering nor all that appropriate as her ‘Brooklyn’ premiere outfit. She finished the casual look with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.

Jane Fonda: While Saoirse may have seemed underdressed, that same sentiment cannot be said for Jane who pulled out all the stops in a Yves Saint Laurent Couture by Hedi Slimane gold gown styled with an equally golden YSL clutch at the ‘Youth’ premiere. She definitely had the Midas fever.

Elle Fanning In Emilio Pucci & Gucci – ‘Trumbo‘ & ‘About Ray’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Elle Fanning In Emilio Pucci & Gucci - 'About Ray' & ‘Trumbo‘ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Elle Fanning was by far the best dressed during the 2015 Toronto Film Festival on Saturday (September 12), which saw her take to the red carpet twice for the ‘About Ray’ and ‘Trumbo‘ premieres.

‘About Ray’ Premiere: This Emilio Pucci black and white silk chiffon halter gown shows that Elle can do grown up glamour while still possessing plenty of charm. I love that on this red carpet full of Hollywood heavyweights, she managed to take centre stage. This leaves me totally starstruck.

‘Trumbo‘ Premiere: Elle’s second look from Gucci’s Fall 2015 collection was decidedly playful thanks to the asymmetrical pleated details, red belt with a purple silk floral broach and bejewelled hair accessory.

Rachel Weisz In Louis Vuitton, Valentino & Gucci – 2015 Toronto Film Festival

Rachel Weisz In Louis Vuitton, Valentino & Gucci - 2015 Toronto Film Festival

Rachel Weisz made a return to the red carpet during the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, where she attended ‘The Lobster’ and ‘Youth’ premieres on Friday and Saturday respectively, plus HFPA/InStyle’s Annual party in Toronto, Canada.

‘The Lobster’ Premiere: I was delighted to see this Louis Vuitton Resort 2016 look on the red carpet as this was one of my favourite from the collection. Some might consider a t-shirt and maxi skirt too casual for a premiere, but I think this look upholds endless amounts of elegance.

‘Youth’ Premiere: It took me a while, but I now see the whimsical charm of Rachel’s Valentino Resort 2016 gown. Having seen this over the weekend, my first thought was the dress was sprouting fungus. The look was styled with a simple updo and Jimmy Choo ‘Cameo’ clutch.

InStyle & HFPA Party: Rachel’s final dress hails from Gucci’s Resort 2016 collection which she styled with Kurt Geiger ‘Hazel’ platform sandals and her Jimmy Choo ‘Cameo’ clutch. I love how this the mod style dress was in complete contrast to the first two looks, however, I’m surprised she selected such a playful piece.

Which was your favourite?
