Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Gucci Womens round up

There were many more stylish stars who took to the red carpet last night for the private viewing of ‘David Bowie Is’ at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, England.

Edie Campbell: Now sporting hard-to-get-used-to raven locks, the model worked her new ‘do wearing an all-black Gucci Spring 2013 look, featuring a tulle-neck top, flared pants and Gucci strappy sandals with a side buckle. Are you having a hard time getting used to her edgier look?

Laura Bailey: The model lightened things up, wearing a look from Gucci’s Resort 2013 collection. In stark contrast with Edie’s edgy look, Laura’s breezy floral-print blue-striped dress was styled with an ivory cardigan and the red carpet’s hottest property – white pumps. Chic and elegant personified, as always.

Pixie Geldof: Never one to blend into the background – which I love about her – the model wore a hot-pink fringed Gucci Spring 2013 dress, which she styled with a bright-pink oversized Whistles clutch monogrammed with her initials. The shoes let the side down, but I love everything else that is going on north of her ankles.

Vanessa Kirby: The ‘Agatha Christie’ actress donned a cream duchess-satin short-sleeved cocktail dress with tonal embellishments around the neckline, which you may remember we first saw last year on Kerry Washington in coral. Vanessa styled her look with grey – not silver – printed Gucci cuffed sandals and a gold Gucci box clutch. This is another look I like from the ankles up. The shoe colour throws things off for me. I think I would’ve even preferred white on this occasion… yes, I am slowly coming around to white pumps on the red carpet, but would still never purchase a pair.

Yasmin Le Bon In Gucci SS13 - ‘David Bowie Is’ Exhibition

Yasmin Le Bon attended a dinner party to celebrate the ‘David Bowie Is’ exhibition in partnership with Gucci and Sennheiser at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London Tuesday evening.

She delights in one of the mini dresses from the Gucci Spring 2013 collection. I have been obsessed with print for a long while, so I’m ecstatic to finally see it on the red carpet.

Complementing the backdrop, Yasmin looked stunning wearing a pink-orange-and-white-print frock with ruffles cascading from the high flounce neckline.

Hot-pink Gucci cage heels, which feature a gold horsebit accent, were accompanied by a lavender suede clutch and gold jewels.

Supermodel perfect as always.

The Host LA Premiere Menswear

The LA premiere of ‘The Host’, held on Tuesday evening, featured appearances by the film’s stars, Max Irons, Jake Abel, Saoirse Ronan, and Diane Kruger, along with her handsome beau, Joshua Jackson.

Max Irons: For the premiere, Max showed up in a Gucci made-to-order navy notch-lapel suit. He styled the suit with a pale-blue dress shirt and a slim blue tie. Max’s jacket fit well, but the pants were a bit long considering he was wearing black Christian Louboutin ‘Henri’ loafers.

Jake Abel: In a perfectly tailored black peak-lapel Dior Homme suit, Jake’s look stood out from the rest. We had countless issues involving long pants; however, this perfect length was a breath of fresh air. Under the suit, Jake opted for a white shirt and a dark-grey skinny tie. For an added bonus, he accented everything with a silver tie bar and a pocket square completing this look with black calfskin derbies.

Joshua Jackson: The 34-year-old star of the Fox series ‘Fringe’ accompanied his girlfriend and star of ‘The Host’, Diane Kruger, to the premiere. Joshua rightfully dressed down in a pair of jeans and casual black shoes. He also sported a one-button, shawl-lapel suit jacket over a basic white crew-neck shirt.

My favourite look was definitely between Jake and Joshua. I loved Joshua’s casual look, but I have to go with Jake because everything was tailored so nicely.

Max and Jake can be seen in ‘The Host’ on its theatrical release on March 29 in the US.

GI JOE London premiere menswear

The much-anticipated sequel ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ had its London premiere at Empire Leicester Square on Monday evening.

Channing Tatum: For the carpet, Channing sported a Gucci charcoal notch-lapel Marseille suit with a blue dress shirt. He styled the suit with a blue-and-brown striped tie and black leather lace ups. I loved the tie, but it’s the creased shirt and long pants that bother me. His pants fit well at the Oscars when he wore Gucci last so this is a bit of a let down.

Byung-hun Lee: The South Korean actor ditched the suit and showed up in a cool, casual outfit. It consisted of a black leather motorcycle jacket, black denim pants, and a pair of black leather boots. Underneath the jacket, Byung-hun dressed up his outfit with a white shirt and a black tie. I like the look, and props to Byung-hun for knowing how clothes are meant to fit, but I don’t think it’s completely appropriate for a film premiere.

Dwayne Johnson: Formerly known as The Rock, the professional wrestler turned actor arrived on the carpet looking less than stellar, to put it nicely. His navy three-piece suit looked as if it was straight off the rack. No part of it fits the way it should.

D.J. Cotrona: Looking very dapper in a black notch lapel suit, D.J. donned my favourite look of the four. It’s tailored to perfection and the 32-year-old actor wore it well. He added a white pocket square, a white shirt, and a silver tie. My only gripe with the outfit is that I would have preferred a slimmer tie. Not a skinny tie, but a narrow tie.

James Franco In Gucci

To support his new films ‘Oz The Great and Powerful’ and ‘Spring Breakers,’ actor James Franco made two suited-up appearances on Thursday in California.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno: Early in the evening, James was at the NBC Studio in Burbank, California making a guest appearance on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.’ For this he wore a Gucci black signoria suit with notch lapels. James opted for a black-on-black look with his shirt and leather lace-up shoes. It wasn’t completely black, however, as he went with a navy tie to finish it off.

‘Spring Breakers’ LA Premiere: He later headed to Hollywood for the ‘Spring Breakers’ premiere. Sticking with Gucci, as always, James sported a navy, peak lapel signoria suit with a pale blue shirt underneath. To style the suit he wore a blue tie and black shoes.

James cleaned up well at both events. Both suits fit nicely and he didn’t choose to go with the short pants like he did in Hollywood last week. I liked both looks but my favourite was the black-on-black because I preferred the fit of the blazer.

Olivia Wilde In Gucci - ‘The Incredible Burt Wonderstone’ LA Premiere

Olivia Wilde took to the red carpet with her co-stars for the LA premiere of ‘The Incredible Burt Wonderstone’, held at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California.

It’s been a long time coming but I love this Gucci Pre-Fall 2013 frock.

My criticism is that I often feel that she doesn’t appear to try that hard, selecting matronly, bland looks, but this shimmering black gown with a netted overlay, embroidered neckline and open back was anything but – in fact, this is my favourite look from her in a long while.

Sexy, effortless and perfectly styled, Olivia selected Charlotte Olympia platform heels and jewels by Rona Pfeiffer and EF Collection to accessorize her look.

Wavy tresses and smoky eyes provided the finishing touches.

I would even say this is a BDOTW contender. What a difference a day makes.
