Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Kate Beckinsale went for a totally different look on the red carpet yesterday evening for the ‘Total Recall’ LA premiere.

Known for her love of frothy girlie glam, she opted for an Armani Privé Spring 2012 reptilian gown.

I love this dramatic look for Kate.

The strapless gown with a sculptural detail at the front and back looked like a python had snaked itself around her perfect figure, with the green hue popping against the dark background making her stand out on a packed red carpet.

I would’ve loved Kate to have opted for a slicked-back do instead of this braided updo with loose tendrils. Kohl-rimmed eyes would’ve also played up the dark mysterious nature of her gown.

Under her gorgeous gown she wore Brian Atwood black satin ‘Hamper’ pumps plus she added Lorraine Schwartz black diamond-drop earrings and a white-and-black diamond band ring completed her look.

I have a feeling this might be a marmite gown.

Do you love it or hate it?

After the circus that surrounded the previous show, it was a delight to enter the serene environment of the Armani Prive Fall 2012 show.

The invitation was a degrade daybreak mix of blue, lilac, mauve and pink, which is exactly what we saw on the runway.

For the first part of the presentation we marvelled at the designer’s signature architectural silhouette. Impeccably well tailored blazers, Shantung silk choker jackets and wool overcoats were either paired with luxurious silk wide leg pants or silk velvet pants.

We also saw vests with wrap-around velvet and silk trimmed skirts, ombre and colour-block coats and plenty of trouser suits before we moved seamlessly onto eveningwear as the sun set in the backdrop.

My heart skipped several beats when look 28 took to the runway. A strapless gown embroidered with pink rhinestone and beads must have a red-carpet moment. Like a few other pieces in the evening portion of the show, this dress was styled with a bead veil.

As someone who is obsessed with gowns, you’ll be surprised to learn that my favourite look from this collection was a black beaded jumpsuit with touches of blue and pink.

There was plenty more sparkle from the evening gowns which were accented with Swarovski crystals plus there were some muted classic black velvet numbers. The question now is which one will Cate Blanchett chose?

Accessories included Philip Treacy’s black velvet hats, feathery fascinators, pointed flats, t-bar sandals and an array of clutches.

The Armani Privé Fall 2012 show drew a sophisticated set of A-List celebs, as you would expect.

Leslie Mann: The actress, who attended the Chanel show earlier in the day, did a complete 180. Looking forgettable at Chanel, she wowed at Armani. With her hair swept to one side, the glamazon looked outstanding wearing an Armani LBD with a handkerchief hemline.

Zoe Saldana: It’s always a delight to see Zoe during fashion week. Looking impeccable from head-to-toe, the actress wore a shimmering coral Giorgio Armani Fall 2012 halter dress which she styled with black accessories. I have already picked out my Prive wish list for her.

Shailene Woodley: The ‘Descendants’ actress attended her first Couture runway show. She kept her look simple wearing an Armani Resort 2013 ivory ¾-sleeve jacket with black pants.

Michelle Yeoh attended the Giorgio Armani ‘One Night Only in Beijing’ Fashion Show held in Beijing on Thursday evening.

The actress looked stunning wearing an Armani Privé Fall 2012 mermaid dress with flounces in silver-coloured lamé tulle.

The dramatic gown, with subtle green accents along the bottom, glides flawlessly on Michelle, without overwhelming her petite frame.

An upswept ponytail shows off the delicate tulle folds along the bust, while diamond earrings and bracelets add an extra bit of bling.

The only thing I don’t love about this look is the questionable choice to pair that clunky watch with such a delicate dress. This is our constant gripe with Michelle.

Following a gorgeous run at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, Fan BingBing was in Beijing on Thursday evening to attend the Giorgio Armani ‘One Night Only in Beijing’ Fashion Show.

Looking as stunning as ever, the actress selected an Armani Privé green satin evening gown.

This sleek column gown is a more modern look than we’re used to seeing from Fan, who tends to favour princess-like gowns.

Vibrant blue Wan Bao Bao earrings and a structured black handbag accessorize the look.

Side-swept waves and a muted version of her preferred tangerine lip are the perfect finishing touches.
