Red Carpet Fashion Awards

The twins came out to play with Viola Davis on the red carpet at the 2012 NAACP Image Awards, held at The Shrine Auditorium in LA last night, and I’m not referring to fellow attendees Tia and Tamara Mowry.

The actress, who has been embracing colour through-out awards season, donned a Hervé L. Leroux orange gown.

Whilst I adore the colour there’s a little too much boobage for my liking, which I find totally distracting.

Viola Davis opted for her favourite colour on the red carpet at the 2012 BAFTA Awards in London tonight: pink.

She looked beautiful wearing a custom Valentino one-shoulder gown which gathers at the hip and has a daring thigh-high split.

Via the split we can see her Jimmy Choo sandals which she has worn a few times during awards season.

I’m not crazy about her hair on this occasion, but she does look stunning nonetheless.

Viola Davis has upped the style stakes during awards season and has consistently appeared on the Best Dressed List, so I’m happy to see her in a high-fashion magazine shoot.

For the LA Times she reveals just how strikingly beautiful she is with natural hair that really highlights her features.

The 46-year-old channels her inner supermodel on the cover in a fitted Marchesa dress with lace sleeves and organza flower detailing.

I don’t know about you, but she looks 20 years younger.

The rest of the editorial sees her wearing a sculptural Jason Wu dress, a Thierry Mugler lace and velvet trim suit and a Costume National fur poncho.

On her slow rise to fame: “You can be in the business for 23 years, which I have been, and suddenly something happens that wakes people up. For me, that was being in a movie (Doubt) with Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Philip Seymour Hoffman. It makes people realize you’re there. Otherwise you’re that black girl who had a guest or costar role in a TV show here or there.” Read more…

Neon pink is fast becoming Viola Davis’ favourite colour during her spectacular run on the red carpet recently.

The actress joined many other stars at The Beverly Hilton hotel in California today for the 84th Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon.

On this occasion she wore a hot-pink Juan Carlos Obando dress, but we’ve seen her in pink before at the ‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’ New York Premiere and W Magazine’s Annual Golden Globe Awards Celebration.

It’s no wonder she loves this colour so much, as it’s very warm and complementary against her skin tone.

Whilst Rooney Mara has given us just two different hairstyles this awards season, Viola sports yet another chic do.

This bang-sweeping crop is one of my favourites from her. It’s modern without making her look like she tried too hard.

Viola Davis attended the 2012 SAG Awards, where she is nominated in the ‘Best Actress’ category.

She wore a custom Marchesa gown for the occasion.

The white Grecian silk-chiffon gown was embroidered with an antique gold detail along the sweetheart neckline.

This is not my favourite look from the actress. In fact, it is my least favourite, especially with the messy, ‘windswept’ hair.

Let’s hope she bounces back to prime form in time for the Oscars.

Did you like this look, or do you think Viola was just trying too hard?

Viola Davis continued her reign as queen of jewel tones at the 23rd Annual Producers Guild Awards.

The Oscar nominated actress added emerald green to her growing list of Awards Season dress hues, donning a jersey Herve L Leroux gown.

From the waist up, I love this draped gown, but uneven hemlines and strange layers throw off the otherwise glamorous look.

Burgundy lips and side-swept hair offset the stunning green colour.

Best Actress Nominee Viola Davis looked stunning on the red carpet at the 2012 Golden Globes Awards.

Viola wore a custom, bordeaux chiffon Emilio Pucci gown. The one-shoulder gown flowed into a long, flowing train.

The look was accessorized with ruby and gold Fred Leighton jewels, and a gold Judith Leiber box clutch.

Whether she takes home the Golden Globe tonight or not, Viola wins our vote for one of the best dressed of the night.
