Chanel Spring 2013 Couture Front RowA diverse coterie of starlets held court at the Chanel Spring 2013 Couture presentation at the Grand Palais in Paris, including Clémence Poésy, Diane Kruger, Hailee Steinfeld and Rita Ora who all donned their own interpretations of the designer.

Karl Lagerfeld’s Couture runway was a study in gothic-tinged enchantment, but his front-row pretties were less coordinated in their kaleidoscope of looks that showed the many sides of Chanel.

Clémence Posey: The French actress kept things sleek and simple, albeit a bit one-note, in her grey tartan wool coat from Pre-Fall 2013. A black and blue Chanel bag (and a bright red pout) spiced up this look.

Diane Kruger: The German actress is a fashion girl, so it follows that her Spring 2013 black-and-white bustier dress would be ripped straight from the runway. But rather than the funky choker necklace and silver platforms, she went for a French schoolgirl vibe with a beret, a Chanel cross-body bag, Brian Atwood ‘David’ black suede boots and a side braid.

Hailee Steinfeld: The teen star also took the Pre-Fall 2013 collection for a spin with her multicolour cardigan, edged up with a black leather skirt and black cap. With Chanel’s neon yellow resin ‘Boy’ bag, this look ended up being a strange conglomeration of trends; it’s a wonder the young actress didn’t finish it off with a more dynamic shoe.

Rita Ora: The singer played the ultimate lady in red (and white) with her Spring 2013 cropped-sleeve, leather jacket and matching lipstick. But when worn over a lackluster white dress that scraped the floor and with a pair of heavy Alexander Wang leather lace up boots, this sassy songstress’s look may have pushed the boundaries of good fashion into sloppy territory.

Rita Ora In Diane von Furstenberg - BRIT Awards Nominations Announcement

British singer-songwriter Rita Ora showed off her sizzling style at the BRIT Awards 2013 awards nominations announcement, hosted yesterday at The Savoy hotel in London, England. The entertainer picked up three nods in two categories, including Best Breakthrough and Best British Singer.

For the event, she draped herself in a chart-topping Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2013 look. The shimmering dress was an elevated spin off DVF’s signature wrap dress, what with its opalescent hue and a deep plunging neckline that twisted into an equally daring thigh-high slit.

Rather than the embellished sandal seen on the runway, Rita’s nude pump faded to the background, assuring that this gown kept its status as the center of attention.

A fishtail side braid completed the look with a bit of fun edge.

In the new year, she continues to show us why she was our Best Newcomer of 2012.

RIta Ora In Just Cavalli - New York City

Rita Ora, your Best Newcomer for 2012, was spotted headed to the Highline Ballroom in New York City last month, where she was performing a live concert.

The singer wore a Just Cavalli Fall 2012 cape.

Capes were very popular last year; we saw Anne Hathaway, Gwen Stefani, Lucy Liu and Jessica Biel embrace this trendy item. Lucy selected a feather-print Cavalli cape, but Rita went one step further with this animal-print piece.

The bold print, along with the red Diane von Furstenberg 440 top-handle bag, was the perfect way add some pizzazz to her winter look.

Black thigh-high Walter Steiger boots and a red lip colour, which perfectly matched her bag, provided the finishing touches.

WWIB Zhang & Rita Ora

Zhang Ziyi sported a pristine ensemble from Mugler’s Fall 2012 collection on the red carpet back in September while attending a press conference for ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ in Beijing, China.

The petite actress let the edgy look shine by pairing the peplum-adorned dress with sky-high Christian Louboutin ‘Daffodile’ pumps, minimal – yet still shimmering – Cindy Chao jewelry, and a sleek hairstyle. Plus, she really emphasized her tiny waist, using the structure of the dress to her advantage.

Singer Rita Ora donned the same futuristic look back in November while posing on the red carpet for the MOBO Awards in Liverpool, England.

While Rita definitely strikes a stylish chord with her red lips and matching Sergio Rossi clutch, she falls short with her accessory choices. I find that pure white looks tend to feel more sophisticated when paired with silver, so Rita’s flashy gold bangles and Dsquared² heels seem a bit on the distracting side.

Ziyi wins this Mugler mash-up thanks to her understated accoutrements.

Rita Ora was crowned Best Newcomer for 2012.

Considering the majority of the comments on her posts hadn’t been very complementary, with most accusing Rita of copying Rihanna’s style, I must say this comes as a huge shock.

The British singer, who is not afraid to take fashion risks and known for her blonde tresses and signature red lippie à la Gwen Stefani, has supported mostly British designers like Julien MacDonald, Stella McCartney, McQ by Alexander McQueen, House of Holland and Vivienne Westwood.

Other designer favourites include Marchesa, Mugler and Stephane Rolland for her dramatic music awards looks; plus, Emilio Pucci and Alexandre Vauthier have provided her with something uber hot for when she wants to take the sexy route.

While I continue to be shocked by this result, I am happy that she ditched the sneakers which she wore with most dresses earlier on in the year. It was so Lily Allen circa 2006.
