Coachella 2013

Coachella 1

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which kicked off this past weekend, is always a hotbed of eclectic, look-at-that ensembles, as the fest flaunts an anything-goes attitude that many stars are plenty keen to adopt. Cutoffs, crop tops and crochet all come out of the closet, and it’s the one time where even the most reprehensible faux-pas can get a free pass on the fairground—even if they shouldn’t.

Kristen Stewart: The most memorable part of this Kristen sighting was that she was arm-in-arm with her on-and-off boyfriend, Robert Pattinson. Her T-shirt, too-short shorts and Converse kicks were a complete yawn and paled in comparison to Coachella’s other cool and crazy looks. Of course, she would probably say she’s just there for the music not the photo op.

Solange Knowles: The singer continued her love affair with colour and print in this bubblegum-pink Hawaiian floral skirt and melon-orange CC Skye box clutch. Here, though, her go-to style didn’t work so well. The slit was too high, and her white Stuart Weitzman sandals were far too mumsy. She just looked uncomfortable.

Bella Thorne: The up-and-coming starlet really was the flower-child of the fest with her tiara of blooms worn atop her long auburn strands. At only 15, she can get away with shredded denim, a mesh shirt and sneakers, and still look charming.

Rita Ora In Jeremy Scott & JW Anderson - Lacoste L!ve 4th Annual Desert Pool Party

Channeling her full-on wild-child side, Rita Ora let her T-shirt do all the talking at the Lacoste L!ve Fourth Annual Desert Pool Party, hosted on Saturday in Thermal, California as part of Coachella’s first big 2013 weekend.

Her loud message top was from the Fall 2013 collection of the reigning king of punk, Jeremy Scott, though I’m glad she swapped the shiny garbage-bag mini from the runway for J.W. Anderson’s ‘Spongy’ lilac-pink pleat skirt.

With her black sneakers, Carrera by Safilo sunglasses, blonde curls and bold red lippie, this is grunge-pretty at its finest.

Anywhere else, this concoction would have landed the British songstress a worst-dressed title. But, for Coachella, there’s something about her slightly manic look that is mildly appealing.

You can just imagine her playfully chanting, ‘kids rule, adults drool.’

Rita Ora In Saint Laurent - Out In New York City

Rita Ora was spotted leaving a restaurant in Soho, New York on Wednesday evening wearing yet another Saint Laurent Spring 2013 look.

While I loved her previous look, the majority of you thought it was costumey.

On this occasion, I dislike the look as it feels all over the place.

Maybe the sequined jacket, sheer ruffle blouse, and pants with a satin trim would’ve worked better on the red carpet, but nothing can save this look when paired with those Stella McCartney Fall 2013 shoes.

I was surprised when the Fall 2012 heels were such a hit, so despite disliking these shoes immensely I wouldn’t be surprised if they also became a celebrity favourite.

A Saint Laurent wide-brimmed hat and black bag completed her look which begs the question, “did you look in the mirror before you left your house?”

Rita Ora In Chloé - 4th Annual ELLE Women in Music Celebration Performance

Following her Saint Laurent arrivals look, Rita Ora performed onstage at the 4th Annual ELLE Women in Music Celebration, held at the Edison Ballroom in New York City yesterday evening.

The British singer changed into a Chloe Fall 2013 dress, our first look at this collection worn off the runway.

Her pretty ivory dress, featuring a crystal accented gold netted overlay, was softer and more feminine than her previous look, so I wish she’d opted for a softer lip colour too.

The red lip doesn’t go with everything.

Thankfully, she opted for gold strappy sandals instead of the brogues which took to the runway.

Do you prefer this look over her red carpet look?

Rita Ora In Saint Laurent - 4th Annual ELLE Women in Music Celebration

Rita Ora took to the red carpet in fine style for the 2013 Elle Women in Music Celebration, held at the Edison Ballroom in New York City yesterday evening.

On occasion, I tend to find Rita’s more theatrical looks a tad jarring, but she was surprisingly poised in this Saint Laurent Spring 2013 look.

Wearing a black tuxedo-style frock with a rise-and-fall hemline, the look features a white sequin-embellished collar, bib and cuffs with a black sheer chiffon pussybow tie.

While I’m unsure whether the hat was added as an homage to the runway look or just to cover the fact that she needs to touch up her roots, I find the overall look aesthetically pleasing – much to my surprise, I have to add.

Signature red lippie, ocean-blue nails, black Saint Laurent ankle-strap pumps and a selection of gold linked rings completed her look.

Rita Ora In Chanel - Bal de la Rose du Rocher

Rita Ora was the guest performer at the ‘Bal de la Rose du Rocher’ which took place in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Saturday night.

The singer wore a specially designed Chanel piece created by Karl Lagerfeld for this event.

She started off the performance wearing a dress resembling a ‘Grandes Cocottes’ style gown reminiscent of the Belle Epoque, before transforming into a pop outfit by the end of the act.

I have no words. Do you?
