Rachel Weisz For Harper’s Bazaar August 2009

Yummy mummy Rachel Weisz has a commandingly sexy look on the cover of the August 2009 edition of Harper’s Bazaar UK.

She looks stunning wearing a black velvet Giorgio Armani Fall 2009 dress with an asymmetrical neckline and a bejeweled shoulder detail.

The rest of her editorial shot by Cliff Watts is pretty amazing too. I love the Alexander McQueen studded thigh-high boots below. You’d think Rachel is too sweet and innocent to pull something like that off, but she channels her inner diva to give us some fierce looks.

Here are some extracts from her interview with Catherine Fairweather.

On her Oscar: “It’s proudly displayed on a shelf in the bathroom. The best room of the house.”

2009 Cannes Film Festival – "Agora" Premiere

Finally, some Valentino on the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival.

I’ve been waiting for this moment, and I wasn’t let down.

Rachel Weisz was an absolute vision, wearing a green strapless ombre Valentino Fall 2009 chiffon gown with a thigh high split to her Agora premiere during Cannes last night.

She wore her silky brunette locks to one side, showing off her gold earrings, which matched her stack of bracelets.

The gold theme continued to her Christian Louboutin satin d’Orsay pumps, and her matching clutch.

Rachel is one of my favourite of Cannes, without question.

For the photocall, Rachel wore a lace olive green Christian Dior sheath dress.

Nude Louboutin’s, and gold bracelets completed this very sophisticated look.

I think appearing on nearly ever worst dressed list at the Costume Institute Gala, helped her get back to her best.

Social Events Of The Week

Operation Smile Presents the 2009 Smile Event, New York

Ciara wore an ensemble from the Halston Fall 2009 collection, consisting of grey genie pants, a silk tuxedo jacket, and a python scarf.

The scarf is the very strong stand-out piece of this look, which I never expected to see on the red carpet, but Ciara makes it work.

Her look was completed with a pair of fierce multi-strappy Emilio Pucci Fall 2009 heels.

InStyle Hair Issue Launch Party, New York

Ali Larter is very pretty in pink wearing a Notte by Marchesa strapless silk ruffle dress, with black strappy sandals.

The dress is youthful, cute, and sassy, but I would’ve loved to have seen someone like Selena Gomez, or Miley Cyrus wear this dress.

Lisa Edelstein also wore a strapless Notte by Marchesa dress.

Her metallic animal print dress, had a black chiffon overlay, and was accented with a gold woven tie at her waist.

She completed her look with taupe Fendi bow-front peep-toes.

Socialite Olivia Palermo, adds some oomph to her patterned organza Notte by Marchesa tank dress with a black sequined Diane von Furstenberg jacket, and T-bar shoes.

“Management” Screening, New York

*sighs & gives up*

Jennifer Aniston walked the red carpet at this event which was co-hosted by Tommy Hilfiger wearing a grey dress, grey tights, and grey booties.

OK it’s not black, but it might as well be. The dress is actually quite sexy, but the all over grey just makes this looks soooooo boring.

“The Brothers Bloom” Screening, New York

Rachel Weisz went for a low key, yet still very feminine look, wearing a 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2009 printed dress, which was ruched down the front

She paired her dress with a gold box clutch, and black Jimmy Choo strappy sandals.

11th Annual “Tribute To The Human Spirit” Awards Gala, LA

Mark & Spencer’s campaign girl Myleene Klass, wore an electric blue Preen Line Tricks cotton drill dress, which hugged every inch of her curves, which she’s so rightfully proud of.

“Love & Dancing” LA Premiere

Amy Smart is wearing a geometric print Halston Fall 2009 asymmetrical dress. This dress may have cost hundreds of dollars, but unfortunately she make is look very bargain basement.

2009 Rainforest Alliance Gala, New York

Gisele Bundchen was a vision of pure gorgeousness, wearing a gunmetal grey backless Versace gown, which plunged so wickedly.

The orange earrings really pop.

2009 Costume Institute Gala – Worst Dressed Part 2

I don’t hate Leighton Meester’s look as the Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 dress works. It’s the leggings that ruin this look.

Her hair is also a bit cutesy, for such an edgy look.

Bad, bad, bad. This is mostly referring to Tyra Banks’ her hair and make-up.

For me the only thing I like about this look is Emma Roberts’ red Atelier Versace Spring 2009 paillette covered mini dress.

It wouldn’t have hurt Emma Roberts do something different with her hair for once, and this dress deserved better shoes.

Emmy Rossum’s Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 gown feels way too old for her.

I love the open back, but the colour, and high neckline disappoints.

This Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2009 dress, is just not Molly Sims. The look feels really forced and unnatural to her usual style, so I’m immediately turned off by it.

It starts to fall apart with the make-up, which is way too harsh for Rachel Weisz, then it continues to go wrong with the yellow hem of her pink strapless Vera Wang gown.

I’m really disappointed.

As a Versace muse, I would have expected something more daring from Liz Hurley, and less bridal. She is wearing a stunning Elie Saab Spring 2009 gown, but for me, it’s not the right style fit. Emmy Rossum should have worn this gown.

Cartier 100th Anniversary in America Celebration

I wasn’t a fan of the Calvin Klein dress Eva Mendes wore the Parson Fashion Benefit on Wednesday night, but Eva totally redeems herself in this gold metallic Azzaro Fall 2009 long-sleeved backless dress.

What really makes this look, are her complimentary accessories. The stand-out piece was her Giuseppe Zanotti Special Edition crystal strap sandals, which Heidi Klum wore earlier this week in black.

Kate Hudson continues to astound me when it comes to her red carpet choices. Whenever she hits the red carpet, she commands your attention.

She has ‘it’…that indescribable thing her mother possesses, which totally wows you.

She was breathless last night in a floor-length black Rachel Roy Fall 2009 gown with cutaway panels, showing us how much she has been working out.

Like all the other attendees she is wearing Cartier jewels, but I’m totally in love with her dazzling necklace.

You may remember Zoe Saldana was the first to wear Prabal Gurung on the red carpet, and introduce us to this talented designer.

His collection continues to make an impact with Rachel Weisz looking luscious wearing a cream strapless Prabal Gurung Fall 2009 dress, with a pleated black striped draping detail from her black patent belt.

I would have preferred strappy sandals to her Alexander Wang pumps, but I don’t want to focus on what I don’t like too much, because Rachel looks so gorgeous.

Speaking of gorgeous Demi Moore also wore a Prabal Gurung Fall 2009 dress, giving Prabal the unofficial title of ‘Designer of the Night‘.

Demi’s wore an asymmetrical black dress, with cream stripes, showing off her magnificent legs, putting tight wearing Anne Hathaway to shame.

She has been walking the red carpet for years, not all of them were good, but in recent years she has been consistently fabulous, and on trend.

I love the candy coloured paillettes on the shoulder of Tory Burch’s pink polka dotted Lanvin Resort 2009 dress.

Yet another fabulous consistent look from Tory.

Erin Fetherston walked the red carpet wearing a her own glittering bell-bottom pants from her Spring 2009 collection.

I have updated this post, as I was unfortunately wrong in iding Anne Hathaway’s dress as Louis Vuitton. It was actually Jill Stuart.

Anne shows us how incredibly long her legs are in custom Jill Stuart navy dress, with a delicate lace overlay.

I would have never have put Anne in this dress, but for what it’s worth, she makes it work.

Not crazy about her hairstyle though.

I love the pants, this is a bold look, but I prefer how they were presented on the runway.

It’s brown, it’s bland, it’s boring, it’s shapeless, it’s sappy, so it must be Jessica Biel.

Some will say that she has Justin Timberlake on her arm she doesn’t need to try hard. I would whole-heartedly disagree. Note to Jessica, MUST TRY HARDER.

Who Wore RM by Roland Mouret Better? Rachel Weisz or Jessica Alba

Rachel Weisz was the first to wear this black RM by Roland Mouret Resort 2009 dress, which can be worn as a one-shouldered dress, or off-the-shoulder.

Rachel wowed you all when she walked the red carpet at the London Film Festival, for The Brothers Bloom Gala Screening so much, that you voted her Best Dressed Of The Week.

Jessica Alba also wore this dress, when she attended the Vanity Fair Oscar party on Sunday night.

Like Rachel, Jessica wore her dress as a one-shouldered dress, but I didn’t like the way she constructed the neckline, so Rachel wins this for me.

2009 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

I think Kate Bosworth looks absolutely outstanding in this Alexander McQueen Resort 2009 dress. One of the best looks of the party night.

I love that it is sleeveless, unlike the runway version, and I like that her hair is unfussy.

Madonna arrived wearing a Christian Dior Spring 2009 dress, which was unsurprisingly sheer in places.

Taraji P. Henson did a quick change from the show. Her second pick was this Nina Ricci Spring 2009 peachy gown with ruffled details, and a rise & fall hem.

YIKES, was the first thing I said when I saw Zoe Saldana in this Dolce & Gabbana gown. The animal print is too ‘in your face’.

Speaking of YIKES. Alicia Keys changed the dress, but didn’t change the hair and make-up which has been an issue with me and many of you.

This canary yellow asymmetrical gown is gorgeous. Such a shame about rest.

Zooey Deschanel – Katy Perry’s could be twin – arrived looks cute as always wearing a stunning silver sequined Elie Saab dress.

I think it’s a first that she is not wearing tights on the red carpet.

Cat Deeley wears a one-shouldered Matthew Williams Fall 2008 gown, that has already been worn by Mischa Barton.

The gorgeous Georgina Chapman wore a gold embroidered self designed dress from her Marchsea Spring 2009 collection.

I love the swirling pattern on the skirt of Ginnifer Goodwin’s dress, but not so crazy about the bodice. This is a great colour on her though.

Being in the front row of a fashion show pays off for actresses, as Jessica Stroup was wearing a Pamella Roland Spring 2009 plunging black and white sequined gown, after she attended Pamella Roland’s Fall 2009 show last week.

The actress dazzled in Jude Frances jewelry.

There are a few things I hated last night. Jessica Biel’s hair, Beyonce’s dress. Now I can add Salma Hayek’s Balenciaga dress.

It looks so unflattering on her, and the tired old YSL Trib Two’s and the tights don’t help her cause either.

I will guess Marion Cotillard didn’t want people stepping on the train of her Dior gown, so she slipped into this violet strapless cocktail Elie Saab Fall 2008 dress for this party.

Marisa Tomei did the same, but I really dislike the colour blocking on this Juan Carlos Obando Spring 2009 gown.

Like last year’s Vanity Fair party, Ziyi Zhang wore Armani Privé.

Her nude cocktail Armani Privé Fall 2008 dress had a stunning embellished bodice, and a soft silk chiffon layered skirt.

Jada Pinkett-Smith wore a Roberto Cavalli Resort 2009 one-sleeved gown, which had a crystal embellished detail on the waist.

Daniel Craig’s partner Satsuki Mitchell, wore a watermelon Christian Lacroix Spring 2009 Couture one shouldered gown.

Kate Beckinsale wore a J.Mendel Fall 2009 asymmetrical black gown, which she decorated with a silver brooch.

This is a very subdued look for Kate, who usually loves big gowns.

Rachel Weisz wore one of the finale dresses from the Narciso Rodriguez Fall 2009 collection.

I wasn’t particularly crazy about this dress then, and even less enthused about it now.

The heels are fierce though.

Elizabeth Banks wore this black flapper-esqe Roberto Cavalli Resort 2009 cocktail dress.

This dress was presented in ivory, and I think this would have been a better choice for Elizabeth.

Her look is complete with Sergio Rossi shoes and a Swarovski clutch.

Yay. Now the parties start.

Debra Messing makes up for her earlier disappointment, by wearing this nude sleeveless Jenny Packham Fall 2008 gown with emerald green embellishments.

I have always loved this gown, and I am glad Debra wore it well.

Instead wearing her own expected L.A.M.B. designs, Gwen Stefani wore a black Chanel Fall 2008 Couture cocktail dress, with interesting detail on the bodice.

I really dislike this collection, so kudos to Gwen for making this work.

Good to see her back on the red carpet.

This has to be one of the first times I have really dislike something worn by Naomi Watts.

Diane von Furstenberg is of course wearing her own designs. The lavender sequined dress, with beaded details is from her Spring 2009 collection.

Carolina Herrera was of course wearing her own design from her Spring 2009 collection.

Jessica Biel tries to redeem herself wearing a fuschia Oscar de la Renta Fall 2009 gown, but still fails with her greasy hair.

Rosario Dawson out does her wearing a strapless white satin Dolce & Gabbana gown with an black embellished belt.

Jessica Alba, like Heidi Klum, wore a RM by Roland Mouret Resort 2009 black gown, with an asymmetrical hem, and a overshot shoulder, which was folded down, to reveal the ivory lining.
