Who Wore Nanette Lepore Better? Miley Cyrus or Maggie Grace

Miley Cyrus arrived at a taping of the Rachael Ray show back in April wearing this navy, white bow, red trimmed Nanette Lepore Swept Away wrap dress, with Moschino Cheap and Chic peep-toe strappy heels.

The cute dress was a perfect style fit for the young actress/singer.

Maggie Grace wore the same dress when she attended the Palm Pre Launch Event in LA last week.

The former Lost actress, wore her dress with gold buckled flats, and a gold purse.

I much prefer Maggie’s accessories. The red heels with Miley’s dress are too obvious.

This dress is available to purchase from My-Wardrobe.com for £293.

2009 MTV Movie Awards – Best Dressed

Best Dressed Award
This is the impact I wanted Cameron Diaz to make, but instead that honour goes to Sienna Miller.

I love the sea green colour of her Swarovski-encrusted Twenty8Twelve Fall 2009 dress.

The length is perfect to show off her pins, and the shoulder pads are subtle enough not to draw any Balmain comparisons.

The Brit actress carried a silvery Chanel clutch, and wore pair gorgeous Nicholas Kirkwood gold heels, to complete this stunning look.

I Don’t Follow Red Carpet Rules Award
If we expected Kristen Stewart to wear a cute pink mini dress, with silver strappy sandals, we were wrong.

She hit the red carpet wearing a Yigal Azrouël Fall 2009 red and black dress, with a cross cross detail on the sheer yoke, and a wide black belt.

I can imagine her being wrestled into this dress, and her stylist compromising on the Converse sneakers, but she totally rocks this look.

Best Black Award
Leighton Meester took a risk at the Costume Institute Gala, which didn’t pay off for me, but this edgy cut-out Emilio De La Morena Spring 2009 dress totally works.

This interesting dress has peek-a-boo parts, sheer panels, folds, and cut-outs, which Blair Waldorf wouldn’t approve of, but totally love.

She completes her look with Brian Atwood Brie purple suede ankle boots.

Risk That Paid Off Award
Taraji P. Henson certain got into the spirit of this fun awards ceremony, wearing a black and white strapless printed Roberto Cavalli Spring 2009 bustier dress.

The part French maid, part Chinese porcelain inspired look is definitely daring, and with her fun-loving personality she totally pulls it off.

I love how she plays up the ruffled detail on the back of her skirt, and her punky spiky new ‘do.

Moving Out Of Her Comfort Zone Award
This Moschino Fall 2009 red and navy floral print sleeveless dress with a ruffled hem, seems a little out of Lauren Conrad’s comfort-zone, which I really appreciate.

It feels a bit dark and mysterious, which is complemented with dark red lips, and black strappy booties.

I only wish she had pulled her hair back, to show off the floral shoulder detail.

Best Use Of Colour Award
I love to see bold bright colours on the red carpet, which is why I love Vanessa Hudgens peach satin Max Azria dress.

The dress is very grown up, but she injects her youthful glow and enthusiasm, to make this a perfect red carpet look, which she pairs with Jimmy Choo shoes, and a Nancy Gonzalez bronze clutch.

I really glad she didn’t go full on boho, with a printed maxi dress, which we’ve seen many times from her.

Hate The Hair, Love The Dress Award
I love Megan Fox’s black and gold Dolce & Gabbana strapless brocade cocktail dress, which she had shorten. It really suits her dark, mysterious persona, plus it shows off her toned figure.

She wisely kept accessories to a minimum, and added a bit of spice via her Christian Louboutin Differa sandals.

The biggest downsides are her hair, overly orange glow.

Best Theme Award
At first I hated Ashley Greene’s hair, but then I realised how much it worked with what appears to be a 40s housewife theme.

The hair works with her alluringly form-fitting Dolce & Gabbana floral print dress, with a beautiful, yet subtle voluminous skirt.

A neon yellow clutch, and bold red lips, add a touch of bright colour.

The Kate Beckinsale “This Is Not The Oscars” Award
I was really surprised to see LeAnn Rimes wearing such a formal gown by J.Mendel to the MTV Movie Awards.

She looks beautiful, she really does, but she’s a little overdressed.

Most Vanilla Award
Miley Cyrus opted for a very soft look for this event. I would’ve expected something with a lot more attitude, but she looks lovely in her pale pink cowl neck Moschino Cheap & Chic dress, which had a ruffled detail, going down her back.

The only hint of the wild rock wannabee Miley, was via her rings and bracelets.

Best Re-Run Award
I love Ashley Tisdale’s purple leather Elise Øverland dress, and the accessories she picked really punch up the look, especially those lust worthy Paul & Joe Sister heels.

We’ve seen this look before on the red carpet, but as Ashley wears it so well, that all is forgiven.

Surprisingly Not Predictable Award
I would have expected 3 things from Audrina Patridge.

1. Something low cut
2. Her black Alexander McQueen Bow Clutch
3. Her Balmain studded heels.

She blows that out of the water wearing a loose fitting paillette covered Joey Tierny Couture dress, with a dove grey Alexander McQueen clutch, and cream Louboutin heels.

Nice Dress, Shame About The Shoes Award
Keke Palmer’s look was almost perfect. I really loved her coral embellished Elise Øverland dress. It’s young, it’s fun, it sparkles, and it summery, but those grey booties lose her many points.

Stand Out Award
Malin Akerman stood out the most, because she is the only one who opted for pants, wearing a crisp, white Dolce & Gabbana suit, with a pale blue corset.

Her hair was sleeked back to complete this sophisticated look, which she didn’t over accessorize.

Most Summery Award
Yes Paris Hilton needs a new clutch and shoe combo, but there’s no denying her vibrant vest for spring and summery colours.

I love her cute coral Jenny Packham Spring 2009 strapless mini, with its ruffled skirt, and gold embroidered bodice.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun/Au Natural Award
Monique Coleman must have sensed when she looked in the mirror, that she would get ridiculed for her hair.  I admire her for ditching the extensions, and going au natural. I can’t see many others sporting this look.

Her Christian Louboutin Spartenvol Strass sandals complemented her silver and black spacey mini tutu dress, which you may all hate, but I will take this over a mini dress with tights any day.

She wanted to have fun at this event, and it shows.

Hannah Montana: The Movie Paris Premiere

*Sighs*

Miley Cyrus just can’t seem to get this red carpet this quite right. She’s like a roller coaster. One minute she’s up, next she’s down, and it’s all very confusing.

Last night she was in Paris, the fashion capital of the world, for her Hannah Montana: The Movie premiere.

Of her whole European promotional tour, this has to be my least favourite look.

She wore a Dolce & Gabbana printed halter-neck dress, which I really don’t like on her.

That neckline is so unbelievably fussy, there’s too much going on, plus the length of the dress feels quite awkward.

I found something similar, simpler an shorter on Sarah Coggles, which may have worked better for her.

Hopefully she will get to redeem herself before she travels home.

Social Events Of The Week

Rosemount Australian Fashion Week Spring 2009/10 – Camilla & Marc show

Australian Fashion Week has kicked off, so I hope that means we’ll see plenty of Lara Bingle during the week.

The gorgeous model arrived wearing a Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 ultra mini maroon cowl-neck dress, with purple puffy sleeves.

Her look was complete with – what I predict will be she shoes of the year – the Louis Vuitton Spicy heels.

Her dress is incredibly short, so the tights can be forgiven, but it doesn’t mean I like them.

“The Philanthropist” Broadway Opening Night, New York

Sarah Jessica Parker ivory dress, with an pink carnation is very cute, but I’m finding it hard to get excited about it.

“The Good Guy” Premiere, Tribeca Film Festival

Alexis Bledel is wearing a Cushnie et Ochs spring 2009 black dress, with cut-outs details.

It’s a very interesting choice of dress. I’m particularly fascinated by the shoulder pads on the sleeveless dress.

Independent Filmmaker Project, New York

We haven’t seen Katie Holmes on the red carpet much recently.

Here she wears a black satin Alexander McQueen halter top, with matching black pants. It’s quite classic, and appropriate for her event.

She completes her look with Givenchy lace-up heels, and a Hermes Medor clutch.

Thankfully Sanaa Lathan was there to add a lot of colour to this event, with her bright red dress.

I’m loving the multiple string of pearls.

Her look is complete with silver accessories.

Hannah Montana: The Movie Berlin Premiere

Miley Cyrus had yet another premiere to attend this weekend. This time she wore a dove grey Temperley London dress.

The dress was cute, not too tight, not too short, not too revealing, and age appropriate, so hopefully we can all agree – for once -that this is a great look for Miley.

Out & About, New York

The world has been going crazy about Kim Kardashian new lighter ‘do.

I say “please”, it’s so obvious the girl is wearing a honey coloured weave.

The volume of her hair is a dead giveaway, plus the texture.

As she lapped up the attention from the paparazzi, she was spotted out in New York wearing a black Helmut Lang V-neck twill jumpsuit, with Giuseppe Zanotti gladiator boots.

I don’t know about you, but this look scares me. I hope she takes out the weave soon.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Miley Cyrus In Herve Leger & Kate Moss In Balmain

Here we have 2 winners wearing very similar dresses.

I kinda knew Miley Cyrus had Best Dressed Of The Week in the bag, the second I saw her wearing her Herve Leger by Max Azria Fall 2009 dress, to her Hannah Montana: The Movie London premiere.

It really was a WOW moment, despite 26% of you believing her dress was inappropriate for a 16 year old.

Kate Moss got my vote wearing a Balmain Fall 2009 dress with sculptured shoulders.

Yes I should have hated the look because of the tights, but this is one of those very rare occasions in which the tights make the look.

Kate showed us how Balmain should be worn, and I hope this scares the pretenders away from trying to own a look, that was pretty much made for Kate.

Runway To “Hannah Montana: The Movie” London Premiere – Miley Cyrus In Herve Leger by Max Azria

OMG.

My chin hit my keyboard when I saw Miley Cyrus wearing this silver Herve Leger by Max Azria Fall 2009 sparkling embellished mini dress with padded shoulders. She this dress to the premiere of Hannah Montana: The Movie in London tonight.

My head is saying it’s not quite age appropriate, but my heart loves it, and unlike the Madrid premiere she picked the right shoes by Sergio Rossi.

This was my favourite dress from that collection, and I’m just happy to see it on the red carpet, even if it’s worn by Miley.

This one will go to a vote, as I’m sure many of you want to debate this.
