Celine Dion In Atelier Versace & Madonna - 2013 Billboard Awards

Neither Celine Dion nor Madonna took to the red carpet for the 2013 Billboard Awards; however, both were spotted in the press room following their presenting duties.

Celine Dion: The 45-year-old legendary singer surprised me by wearing a knee-length Atelier Versace Spring 2013 dress. Usually she either wears mini dresses or gowns. It’s rare to see her wearing something in between. Her gold lamé fitted dress with gold metallic inserts was styled with metallic-gold pumps and a gold necklace. I am not a fan of the colour or this length on Celine.

Madonna: While we should be surprised to see a 54-year-old woman wearing a fishnet dress over stockings and suspenders, this is Madonna and the ability for her to shock us ended a long time ago. The rest of her Givenchy custom-made Couture look consisted of a texturized, cropped, and fur-collared bomber jacket and a grommet-embellished wide belt. The most I can say about this get up is: at least she has the figure to wear it.

Like Beyonce Knowles and Florence Welch, Madonna also trotted out Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci for the 2013 Met Gala on Monday at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

However, unlike Bey and Flo, Madge put on a full-fledged costume for the Costume Institute Benefit. She may have arrived late to the red carpet, but she wasn’t going unnoticed.

The singer threw caution to the wind and channeled her inner wild-child and sent out a rebel yell with this pants-less get-up that delivered every touchstone of punk imaginable.

The studs, the spikes and the chains all came out to play. So did the plaid. Grommets and gloves were present and accounted for, right along with grungy ripped fishnet tights and a visible lace bra.

Did I miss anything? Oh, yes. The dog collar choker and locket, and the hot pink Casedei ankle-strap pumps. And, of course, there was the shock-and-awe factor that’s so crucial in chaotic punk style.

To top it all off? A short black Cleopatra wig. She should have done a mohawk.

Madonna’s ‘Truth or Dare’ shoe collection arrived in Selfridge’s shoe galleries on Monday, just in time as the Queen of Pop kicks off her tour in London’s Hyde Park this week.

Created to showcase Madonna’s dichotomy as ‘both powerful icon and feminine beauty’, the line was created with the help of Madonna’s longtime stylist Arianne Phillips and features a lot of studs, zips and gold accents.

Produced by high-street footwear retailer Aldo, the collection features 23 styles with prices from £80-£480, and includes a range of styles from brogues to heels and boots.

The collection will be exclusive to Selfridges until September 1. ASOS, Nordstrom and Macy’s will carry the line this fall.

Madonna is a singer, actress, director, children’s book author and she’s even dabbled in fashion, collaborating with Lourdes on her Material Girl clothing line – but the beauty industry has been the one industry she was yet to conquer.

Until now of course.

Last night, the ‘Material Girl’ launched her first fragrance ‘Truth or Dare’ by Madonna at Macy’s in Herald Square in New York City.

Dressed in Dolce & Gabbana, of course, the sheer, lace-accented dress was worn with a black bodysuit.

A signature crucifix, black satin peep-toes and blow-out locks completed her look.

Whilst Madonna looks good, this look is very much expected and very familiar.

Madonna continues to give us high fashion in her music video, ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’, which was styled by Arianne Phillips.

The singer, who’s had more comebacks than Rocky Balboa, kick-starts her music video wearing shades and a Burberry trench coat whilst wheeling a baby carriage down a suburban street.

She’s then stripped out of the trench to reveal a Bebe (yes, Bebe) variegated black leather cropped jacket with Kiki de Montparnasse hot pants.

The video then cuts to a crucifix-wearing Madonna decked out in black high-waist pants with a black Norma Kamali long-sleeve crop top which reveals an animal-print bra.

My favourite part of the video is when Madonna channelled her 80s Material Girl sporting tight platinum blonde curls and wearing a white lace Dolce & Gabbana dress which she teamed with custom-made Sergio Rossi metallic croc heels.

I hate to say it but the catchy chorus is growing on me.
