Lily Allen In Roland Mouret – Centrepoint’s Ultimate Pub Quiz

Lily Allen In Roland Mouret - Centrepoint's Ultimate Pub Quiz

Lily Allen attended Centrepoint’s Ultimate Pub Quiz held at Village Underground on Tuesday (February 4) in London.

Having seen Lily wear many oversized vintage-style dresses in the past, I’m delighted to see a totally different look and silhouette from her.

The singer wore a Roland Mouret Fall 2013 long-sleeved V-neck dress presented in the forever-classic combination of black and white and featuring contemporary satin panels.

As if her dress wasn’t statement enough, she added Alaia animal-print calf-hair-and-suede ankle boots with a chunky platform, which were the utilitarian yin to the yang of her sophisticated dress.

A sapphire-stone gold necklace and simple updo completed her look.

Lily Allen for Elle UK March 2014

Lily-Allen-for-ELLE-UK-March-2014

Lily Allen is the March 2014 cover girl for Elle UK. She graces the cover, shot by David Vasiljevic, wearing the same Miu Miu dress we’ve seen on Lupita Nyong’o; she also wears Spring 2014 looks from Michael van der Ham and Roland Mouret.

It appears that her comeback is set to upset the masses, with her singing her version of the truth as she remains an unapologetic spitfire who apparently has her bit to say about everything from feminism and motherhood, to Beyonce and the pressure on women to conform.

Elle’s March 2014 issue is on newsstands now. Below are some extracts.

On the pressure to be perfect: “Of course I’d rather look like Kate Moss than look like myself”, she admits. “I wish I didn’t feel like that, and I think the reason we feel like that is because of the imagery we’re fed all the time. Women are still expected, in some weird way, to kind of… sit there and look pretty. And not talk.”

On fame: “I don’t want to be a famous person. But [with] the nature of the industry, when I have an album to promote, I do want to be famous. I want people to buy it! And I want them to go to my shows. That’s how it works. I think of myself as a product in that sense. But I don’t want that frenzy. I think it’s weird for children to grow up around that.”

On coming back to music after her threats to retire from the music industry: By the end, I was physically and mentally exhausted and really pissed off”, she said. “This was pre-phone hacking scandal, so those lines hadn’t been drawn. People just didn’t give a shit, and there weren’t any barriers. I did feel at that time that I wanted to leave and never come back. But I’m not the sort of person who can sit at home and look after [children] all day… there was a void. I’m a creative person, I like to speak my mind. Making music is the perfect vehicle for that”.

Chanel Spring 2014 Couture Front Row

Chanel Spring 2014 Couture Front Row

The Chanel Spring 2014 Couture show took place during Paris Fashion Week today in France. The front row attendees were treated to a show which looked like the designer had sought inspiration from his Spring 2009 Couture collection.

Tilda Swinton: The only person who really caught my eye in the front row was Tilda. The face of Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection opted for a Chanel Pre-Fall 2014 look, wearing a cashmere star-print sweater with a colourful fringed knit skirt, styled with an American flag scarf, knit tights and two-tone Chanel pumps. Coming from Scotland, she knows a thing or two about dressing for the current season.

Lily Allen: The Brit singer was also perched in the front row, opting for simple staples, jazzing up her look with a red-white-and-blue tweed coat, a colourful headpiece and a Chanel quilted shoulder bag. Adding yet more colour to her look, she opted for smoked blue eye makeup. Between Lupita Nyong’o, Keira Knightley and now Lily, I’m thinking I need to step up my eye-makeup game this season.

Olga Kurylenko: The actress went from temptress at Dior to quite pedestrian at Chanel. If it weren’t for the glossy red lips and those studded cuffs, I wouldn’t have even noticed this look.

Lily Allen In Chanel – ‘Saving Mr Banks’ London Film Festival Closing Night Gala Premiere

Lily Allen In Chanel - 'Saving Mr Banks' London Film Festival Closing Night Gala Premiere

Lily Allen attended the Closing Night Gala premiere of ‘Saving Mr Banks’ during the 57th BFI London Film Festival held at the Odeon Leicester Square in London yesterday evening.

After a hiatus to concentrate on being a mother, the singer is back on the red carpet and it appears not much has changed as she’s wearing Chanel once again.

As she’s one of Uncle Karl’s favourite’s, she was able to go back into the archives to select this Chanel Fall 2011 gown featuring a white cap-sleeved top with black lace accents and a chiffon shredded black skirt accented with an embroidered-leaf waistband.

The look was given a pop of colour via her yellow manicure, with a Chanel ‘Lego’ clutch completing the look.

I do love it when celebs go back into the archives. It’s an opportunity for them to pick those pieces we wish we’d seen on the red carpet. Sadly, this wasn’t such an occasion as this dress has been worn twice before.

Zoe Kravitz wore it to the 2011 UNICEF Snowflake Ball and Emilia Clarke wore it to the 2012 SAG Awards.

I wonder who will wear it in 2014?

Who Wore Chanel Better? Lily Allen or Sarah Jessica Parker

Lily Allen was one of the many famous faces who attended Chanel’s Fall 2011 presentation during Paris Fashion Week back in March.

There to support one of her favourite labels, the singer told the press on her way in “I’m here to see Karl for my wedding dress.”

Sitting front row, Lily wore a gorgeous modified emerald green Chanel Pre-Fall 2011 tweed coat.

She paired the coat with a LBD, Ray-Ban sunglasses, tights and black shoes but added some excitement with one killer accessory; an extremely covetable, bright red quilted Chanel bag.

Lily styled her hair into a super chic up-do and topped it off with lipstick to match her lovely bag.

Sarah Jessica Parker chose the runway version of the same coat to wear to the opening night of “Catch Me If You Can” on Broadway.

The actress styled her look completely differently to Lily, opting to wear it with a graphic black and white Oscar de la Renta cap sleeve sheath dress.

SJP added a pair of Christian Louboutin ‘Luxura’ ankle strap heels, a bronze studded cuff and diamond earrings as accessories.

Loose wavy hair and smoky eyes completed her look.

My vote is going to Lily because I think she looks incredibly sophisticated and pulls her entire look together perfectly. I love that Lily focused on two amazing pieces (the coat and purse) and kept everything else in black.

I appreciate SJP’s efforts to mix and match textures, prints and colours but I think there is a little too much going on and her eye makeup is too heavy for my taste.
