Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Costume design in TV and film was recognized at the 14th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, held in Beverly Hills last night.

Kate Beckinsale was awarded the ‘Lacoste Spotlight Award’ for her fashionable work in films.

Accepting the award, Kate wore a draped Vivienne Westwood gown.

At first glance, this grey colour seems like another one of Kate’s beloved nude gowns, but upon closer inspection, it’s actually a subtle print of light blue and white fans.

The actress even added off-the-shoulder sleeves to her signature strapless silhouette.

Earlier today, Kate Beckinsale attended a photocall in Berlin, Germany, for the next stop on her promo tour for her newest movie, ‘Underworld Awakening’.

On this occasion the actress wore a Christian Dior Spring 2012 dress.

There is something about this look that screams ‘Project Runway’ to me.

Sorry, ‘Project Runway reject’ as the dress falls horribly flat on Kate.

I’m not sure if it’s the dress itself or the terrible styling, but Kate can do so much better than this.

My mother always says, ‘be careful what you wish for’. I wish she’d give us something new; she did and now I don’t like it.

Kate Beckinsale continued to promote her new movie ‘Underworld Awakening’ in Madrid, Spain, yesterday by attending a photocall at the Villa Magna Hotel.

The British actress looked very chic wearing a Michael Kors jersey dress.

Her burgundy dress has an embossed python detail around the neckline which is a signature detail from the Spring 2012 collection.

With her luscious wavy locks and perfect pink glossy lips she completed her look with a statement ring and her favourite pumps: Brian Atwood ‘Maniacs’ in nude.

It looks like Kate Beckinsale heard our pleas, because she did opt for a different silhouette on the red carpet for the ‘Underworld Awakening’ LA premiere last night.

The British actress looked outstanding, as always, wearing a Jenny Packham Spring 2012 gown.

Her gold cap-sleeve sequin-encrusted gown with a crystal cowl neckline was styled with gold bracelets.

With her enviable glossy ombre locks tumbling down her shoulders, she completed the look with neutral makeup, including a subtle pink lip shade and rosy cheeks.

Even though Kate Beckinsale was stunning on the red carpet at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards, I feel like I’ve seen this look many times from her.

She was perfection personified, but this Roberto Cavalli strapless gown with a mermaid hemline, which fits like a glove, is far too familiar.

I wish she would take more risks on the red carpet.

I feel bad for criticizing her when she looks this stunning, but I also want to see something different.

Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a chic updo completed her look.
