Which Was Your Favourite Julianne Moore Awards Season Look?

Which Was Your Favourite Julianne Moore Awards Season Look

Julianne Moore may have swept the board winning Best Actress awards for ‘Still Alice’, but did she really clean up in the style stakes?

I would say yes she did.

Looking back I was delighted to learn that her love for black was mostly confined to events surrounding awards season, with the only notable step onto the dark side in Saint Laurent at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Her go-to designer was Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy Couture when I was sure it would’ve been Tom Ford, but this was the right choice as Julianne’s finest moments were both in Givenchy.

Those looks were my joint favourites. I couldn’t pick a favourite of the two as I love the drama of the Golden Globes gown and the colour of the SAG Awards.

As breathtaking as the design of her Chanel Couture Oscar gown was, the colour washed her out completely, ending an amazing run with a damp squib.

Julianne Moore In Chanel – 2015 Oscars

Julianne Moore made a statement in white on the red carpet of the 2015 Oscars held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday (February 22).

The Best Actress nominee wore a truly unique custom Chanel gown absolutely dripping in white sequins and accented with rows of white and black sequin rosettes.

Looking every bit like it was designed by Karl Lagerfeld himself, the gown is a timeless statement and is truly breathtaking. And the diamond Chopard jewels are worthy to hold court next to this masterful creation.

A low, sleek chignon, shimmering eyeshadow, Marsala lips and her signature ageless skin have Julianne looking like the Hollywood icon that she is.

Julianne Moore In Christian Dior Couture – 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards

Julianne Moore In Christian Dior Couture - 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards

Julianne Moore attended the 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday (February 21), hosted at Santa Monica Beach in Santa Monica, California.

Nominated for her lead role in ‘Still Alice,’ the actress skipped the black in favour of a verdant, celadon-green hue, dazzling on the red carpet in a Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture confection.

With all-over embellishment, the paillette-encrusted frock was shed of its runway opera coat and vinyl thigh boots, which would have been overkill.

In their place, black ankle-strap platform pumps corresponded with the black accent detailing at the dress’s neckline to finish what was a more experimental, flashy look for Julianne.

Tom Ford Fall 2015 Front Row

Tom Ford Fall 2015 Front Row

While some editors and models were headed to London for round two of fashion month, Anna Wintour, Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls headed west for the Tom Ford Fall 2015 show which was showcased in LA on Friday (February 20).

The result, a packed A-List front row of which nineteen looks have been featured.

With the Oscars on Sunday and with everyone in town, it was quite a master-stroke to host the show in LA this weekend.

TOM’S FAVOURITES
Julianne Moore: The actress was no doubt top of the guest list working a Spring 2015 green ensemble festooned with feathers, sequins and camo print. I would not bet against Julianne wearing Tom Ford on Sunday despite the Givenchy run up.

Gwyneth Paltrow: I expected a bit more from Gwynie. This cold shoulder Pre-Fall 2015 LBD feels a bit been there done that and boring for such an occasion.

The Carters: He was looking mighty dapper in a signature wide lapel suit, while she was looking bootylicious in a typically sheer embellished Spring 2014 creation.

Julianne Moore & Dakota Johnson In BOSS – BOSS Fall 2015 Front Row

Julianne Moore & Dakota Johnson In BOSS - BOSS Fall 2015 Front Row

While the front row at Michael Kors was full of colour and print, things were very different at the BOSS Fall 2015 show, which was presented during New York Fashion Week on Wednesday (February 18) in New York City.

Julianne Moore: Staking her claim as the reigning queen of all things black, the actress selected a luxe wool overcoat I want to own right now, with a simple black dress oozing the elegance and simplicity of a BOSS woman. Her accessories really helped cap off a stellar look. This is perhaps one of my favourite looks this fashion week.

Dakota Johnson: The actress, whose promo tour has consisted of only black and white, kept that theme going, adding a touch of grey to her look via a BOSS wool coat. Like Julianne, the look was also chic but in a much more relaxed manner. If Julianne’s look was to be labelled Editor-in-Chief, Dakota would be Deputy editor.
