Who Wore Alberta Ferretti Better…Jess Weixler or Stana Katic?

Who Wore Alberta Ferretti Better Jess Weixler or Stana Katic

Jess Weixler attended the 28th American Cinematheque Award event honouring Matthew McConaughey back in October wearing an Alberta Ferretti Resort 2015 gown.

The gown already had a huge battle on its hands for the muddy brown colour alone, but factor in the ill-fitted bodice and metallic sheen on the skirt and it’s a wonder that this dress was worn once, let alone twice.

Stana Katic, like Jess, usually has great style, but she also came undone wearing the same gown to The Music Center’s 50th Anniversary Spectacular last month.

For the sleek bun and the slightly better fit at the bodice, Jess wins for me.

‘Interstellar’ LA Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

'Interstellar' LA Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a roundup of a few more looks which hit the red carpet on Sunday evening (October 26) for the ‘Interstellar’ LA premiere held at TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX.

Jess Weixler: The actress, who’s gone from blonde to a deep jet-black hue, wore a Prada burgundy long-sleeved dress enriched with crystal and jet beaded embroidery, which she simply styled with Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals. This look is nice enough; perhaps it could’ve nipped in at the waist more, but I always want a bit more from her.

Tessa Thompson: The actress wore a Proenza Schouler cut-out tri-colour dress which is instantly recognisable for its unique design and woodgrain pattern from the Fall 2014 collection. Styled with a black Swarovski clutch, vintage ring and Monika Chiang ankle-strap pumps, this was one of the standout looks from this red carpet.

Mackenzie Foy: The adorable young actress wore a Marchesa Notte blush multi-layered cocktail dress with a bodice beautifully decorated with gold embroidery. Her styling, which included a side-swept braid and Loeffler Randall ‘Reina’ kitten heels, perfected this sweet and youthful red carpet look.

Jess Weixler In Alberta Ferretti – American Cinematheque 28th Annual Award Presentation To Matthew McConaughey

Jess Weixler In Alberta Ferretti - American Cinematheque 28th Annual Award Presentation To Matthew McConaughey

Jess Weixler attended the 28th American Cinematheque Award event honouring Matthew McConaughey held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Tuesday (October 21) in Beverly Hills, California alongside her ‘The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby’ co-star Jessica Chastain.

As we all know, brown is not a great colour to select for any red carpet look, but that isn’t my greatest issue with this Alberta Ferretti Resort 2015 strapless gown.

The issue is both the style and the fit of the bodice. The style is not particularly flattering and the fit is off, probably on account of the design.

There is no denying how beautiful Jess is here, but she can do so much better.

Jess Weixler In Prada – ‘The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby’ New York Screening

Jess Weixler In Prada - 'The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby' New York Screening

Along with costar Jessica Chastain, Jess Weixler attended the New York screening of her film ‘The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby’ at Landmark’s Sunshine Cinema on Wednesday (September 10).

And, like Jessica, Jess also chose to wear head-to-toe Prada.

The actress wore a dual effect, long-sleeved, belted dress with one sheer sleeve and connected scarf details from the Prada Fall 2014 collection.

The periwinkle color of this dress is unexpected and refreshing, and juxtaposing it with the burgundy is a fun color-blocking choice. That said, despite some really intriguing design elements to this dress, it’s just really hard to pull off, and I feel it overwhelms Jess’s frame.

I do love the continued color-blocking with the purple ankle-strap Prada heels, and her dark brows and deep raspberry lips pop beautifully against the colors of the dress and her porcelain skin.

So what do you think: Are you liking this look more than I?

Jess Weixler attended the screening of ‘Listen Up Philip’ during Sundance NEXT FEST at The Theatre at Ace Hotel on Saturday (August 9) in Los Angeles, California.

The actress wore a Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2014 geometric monochrome dress with a fit-and-flare silhouette, a high-impact piece which she chose to style with mini stud earrings, a red DVF clutch and black DVF sandals.

Styling her hair into a rolled-up chic updo, Jess completed her look with a glossy pink lip colour.

Jess Weixler In Honor – amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala

Jess Weixler In Honor - amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala

Jess Weixler attended the annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS gala held at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France this evening (May 22).

Since her Martin Grant gown, it has been uphill in the style stakes for ‘The Good Wife’ actress.

On this occasion she opted for flawless evening elegance, wearing an Honor Fall 2014 gown.

I adore the stunning icy blue hue on Jess, which features an exquisitely crafted petal neckline.

The layers of tulle give this a romantic, ethereal feel, with her silver jewels adding a touch of glamour.

If you are having a strong case of deja vu, that’s because this gown, without the sleeves we saw on the runway, is strikingly familiar to Hannah Simone’s SAG Awards Marchesa gown.

Chanel & Vanity Fair France Dinner Party

Chanel & Vanity Fair France Dinner Party
With the fashionable force of celebrities in town for the 67th annual Cannes Film Festival in France, no better time for another starry party. Chanel and ‘Vanity Fair’ took the opportunity to fete the occasion on Tuesday (May 20) with a dinner at the beachfront restaurant, Tetou, where a bevy of Chanel-clad beauties were on the scene.

Lily Allen: The British singer-songwriter was dressed in a blue tweed frock with glittery embroidery from the Chanel Spring 2012 Couture collection, which she paired with (not pictured) gunmetal metallic pumps. The classic silhouette received a punchy accent via the embellished cold-shoulder sleeves and patchwork hemline. While her blue pendant earrings may have been unnecessary given the glitz of the dress, the yellow Chanel clutch was definitely a questionable blot on this look.

Jessica Chastain: Whereas Lily went for shine, Jessica kept her look on a more subtle level, donning a Chanel Resort 2014 white tweed dress with pockets. From her flame-red locks to her barely-there makeup and natural nails, this was the embodiment of au naturel styling. We can’t see if her shoes added a spark, but were you bored, or did you appreciate her breezy, effortless beauty?
