2015 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Menswear Roundup

2015 Critics' Choice Movie Awards Menswear Roundup

Here’s a quick roundup of the men who took to the red carpet for the 2015 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held at the Hollywood Palladium on Thursday (January 15) in Los Angeles, California.

Eddie Redmayne: Giving just that little bit extra, which always sees him standing above his peers, the actor opted for a sharp Valentino shawl-collar tuxedo in his favoured slim-fit silhouette.

Jared Leto: Following the Globes, I was worried he had lost his mojo, but here he’s bursting with flavour. Standing out wearing a bright blue Costume National blazer accented with a pink carnation, you have to admire his courage in always doing something different. Thankfully opting for black trousers instead of going full blue, he did match his blazer to his sock with an extra kick coming from his Swarovski-embellished Louis Leeman loafers. On this occasion he swapped his man-braid for a man-bun.

Ethan Hawke: Yet to wear a black suit this awards season, the ‘Boyhood’ actor also stood out, donning a Lanvin light grey suit with black velvet piping. These top three will most definitely keep menswear interesting this awards season.

2015 Golden Globes Menswear Roundup

2015 Golden Globes Menswear Roundup

The guys were none too shabby when it came to their sartorial selections at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, held last night (January 11) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, boasting a range of looks that went way beyond the standard black tux.

Matt Bomer: The Best Supporting Actor winner for ‘The Normal Heart’ was dressed just as winningly in an impeccable Ralph Lauren Black Label navy shawl collar tuxedo that naturally brought out his own baby blues and was handsomely paired with a dark bowtie and crisp white button-down shirt.

Eddie Redmayne: Looking as sharp as ever, ‘The Theory of Everything’ Best Actor winner took a Euro-cool version of black velvet out for a spin, donning a Gucci notch-lapel, two-button New Signoria evening jacket with a white evening shirt, black satin bowtie, black tuxedo trousers and black patent leather lace-up shoes.

Alan Cumming
: Having quite the nude moment, ‘The Good Wife’ actor and nominee wore a buff wool, two-button peak lapel tuxedo, buff dress shirt and buff silk skinny tie from the Spring 2015 Calvin Klein Collection. Between the monochromatic buff-ness and the rolled pant legs, not to mention his Christian Louboutin ‘Mika On Stage’ sneakers, this look translated as more comical than cool.

Eddie Redmayne In Gucci & Alexander McQueen – InStyle’s Golden Globe Nominations Party & 2015 BAFTA LA Tea Party

Eddie Redmayne In Gucci & Alexander McQueen – InStyle’s Golden Globe Nominations Party & 2015 BAFTA LA Tea Party2

Like co-star Felicity Jones, Eddie Redmayne attended both InStyle’s Golden Globe Nominations party held at the Chateau Marmont on Friday (January 9)and the 2015 BAFTA Tea Party held at The Four Seasons Hotel on Saturday (January 10) in Beverly Hills, California.

InStyle’s Golden Globe Nominations Party: We always expect a sharp suit from the British actor, and the Gucci Fall 2014 charcoal grey, blue and black striped wool suit is one of his finest. While this look is usually reserved for a Wall Street banker or smartly dressed mobsters, Eddie once again ultimately redefines formal styling with sophisticated panache.

2015 BAFTA LA Tea Party: It was all about colour for Eddie at the BAFTA party where the actor wore an Alexander McQueen Spring 2015 electric-blue suit styled with a red and white crochet tie and navy-tasselled loafers.

Despite my love for all things electric-blue, the first look is by far my favourite. I just couldn’t get on board with the red and white striped tie for the second look.

Eddie Redmayne: Attending with his Gucci-clad wife Hannah Bagshawe, Eddie gave his camel multi-fleck Topman suit a second outing, having premiered it back in 2013 during the ‘Les Misérables’ promo tour.

Miles Teller: The always impeccably dressed actor attended the W Magazine party wearing a contrast-sleeve grey wool suit with shirt and tie from the Kent and Curwen Fall 2014 collection styled with an olive tie and brown lace-ups.

Felicity Jones In Gucci & Eddie Redmayne In Kenzo – Talking Pictures: ‘Theory of Everything’

26th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Film - Talking Pictures: "Theory of Everything"

Director James Marsh, Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne attended the screening of ‘The Theory of Everything’ held at the Annenberg Auditorium on Saturday (January 3) in Palm Springs, California.

I just love how the actors are co-ordinated with their shades of green.

Felicity Jones: The actress opted for a summery mint-green hue Gucci dress with a delightfully feminine flared skirt. Fashionably chic, this piece offers a pleasurably fun undertone while making an adept statement. Silver pumps rounded out her look.

Eddie Redmayne: Even when he’s not decked out in a suit, the actor still looks sharp, donning an orange-hued sweater over a pistachio shirt paired with olive-green tweed trousers from Kenzo.

Alongside the ladies at the 26th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala held at Palm Springs Convention Center on Saturday (January 3) in Palm Springs, California, was a cluster of handsome gents.

Eddie Redmayne: The recently married ‘Theory of Everything’ actor picked up the Desert Palm Achievement Award looking very sharp once again. Having picked up Best Dressed Male for the third year in a row in 2014, he kicks off the year wearing a Gucci midnight-blue velvet notch-lapel two-button Dylan jacket with intriguing leather detailing, paired with a white dress shirt, black satin bow tie and black wool trousers, adding a smart pair of black patent leather lace-ups to round out his award-winning look. Mrs aka Hannah Bagshawe, was also wearing Gucci.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The ‘Sherlock’ actor wore a classic single-button suit, with the only pop of colour coming from his gorgeous arm candy, fiancée Sophie Hunter, in her Just Cavalli Spring 2015 multicoloured printed maxi dress, which sees her move away from her beloved Erdem on this rare occasion.

Best Dressed Male 2014 – Eddie Redmayne

Best Dressed Male 2014 – Eddie Redmayne

Eddie Redmayne has done it again. The British cutie is three for three the past three years as your best-dressed man around. However, let’s face it, when he clenched the Best Dressed Male 2013, we were already anticipating he’d keep his winning streak going strong in 2014.

Of course, it doesn’t take much to make this boyish-handsome hotshot stand out among the rest. But he’s really upped the stakes this past year while playing the fashion game.

Flashing an impish grin at every turn, he’s a walking billboard for the power of a Burberry Prorsum slim-fit suit and the strength of a well-tailored Tom Ford satin-lapel tux.

But, in addition to his sharp-as-a-tack looks, what’s really swoon-worthy is the actor’s continued fearlessness when it comes to colour combinations, sporting every shade from burgundy to midnight blue and bright teal. His recent Hardy Ames navy plaid suit at the London premiere of ‘The Theory of Everything’ couldn’t have been smarter if it tried.

Oh, and he’s also now fully mastered the art of the pose, always striking his signature lean-left or lean-right stance, which only adds another note of swagger to his style.

With impeccable tailoring, interesting colours, and undeniably good looks all on his side, he’s a triple threat. Will any other well-dressed male ever stand a chance?

Runner Up: David Beckham
