Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala Menswear Roundup

Alongside the ladies at the 26th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala held at Palm Springs Convention Center on Saturday (January 3) in Palm Springs, California, was a cluster of handsome gents.

Eddie Redmayne: The recently married ‘Theory of Everything’ actor picked up the Desert Palm Achievement Award looking very sharp once again. Having picked up Best Dressed Male for the third year in a row in 2014, he kicks off the year wearing a Gucci midnight-blue velvet notch-lapel two-button Dylan jacket with intriguing leather detailing, paired with a white dress shirt, black satin bow tie and black wool trousers, adding a smart pair of black patent leather lace-ups to round out his award-winning look. Mrs aka Hannah Bagshawe, was also wearing Gucci.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The ‘Sherlock’ actor wore a classic single-button suit, with the only pop of colour coming from his gorgeous arm candy, fiancée Sophie Hunter, in her Just Cavalli Spring 2015 multicoloured printed maxi dress, which sees her move away from her beloved Erdem on this rare occasion.

Best Dressed Male 2014 – Eddie Redmayne

Best Dressed Male 2014 – Eddie Redmayne

Eddie Redmayne has done it again. The British cutie is three for three the past three years as your best-dressed man around. However, let’s face it, when he clenched the Best Dressed Male 2013, we were already anticipating he’d keep his winning streak going strong in 2014.

Of course, it doesn’t take much to make this boyish-handsome hotshot stand out among the rest. But he’s really upped the stakes this past year while playing the fashion game.

Flashing an impish grin at every turn, he’s a walking billboard for the power of a Burberry Prorsum slim-fit suit and the strength of a well-tailored Tom Ford satin-lapel tux.

But, in addition to his sharp-as-a-tack looks, what’s really swoon-worthy is the actor’s continued fearlessness when it comes to colour combinations, sporting every shade from burgundy to midnight blue and bright teal. His recent Hardy Ames navy plaid suit at the London premiere of ‘The Theory of Everything’ couldn’t have been smarter if it tried.

Oh, and he’s also now fully mastered the art of the pose, always striking his signature lean-left or lean-right stance, which only adds another note of swagger to his style.

With impeccable tailoring, interesting colours, and undeniably good looks all on his side, he’s a triple threat. Will any other well-dressed male ever stand a chance?

Menswear Midweek Roundup 10 dec

Here is a quick roundup of a few fine gentlemen who took to the red carpet on Tuesday night (December 9).

Orlando Bloom: Joining Evangeline Lilly on the red carpet for the LA premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies’, the actor went for a smart-casual Dior Homme navy wool two-button notch-lapel suit styled with a red cotton, small collar, graphic jacquard print shirt and smart sneakers. Was the look too casual?

Eddie Redmayne: Eddie joined Felicity Jones on the red carpet for the London premiere of ‘The Theory Of Everything’. Decked out in a very smart Hardy Amies plaid suit, the actor, as always, goes above and beyond when it comes to red carpet dressing. He has worn many a great suit on the red carpet, but this one is for his hall of fame.

Richard Armitage: Also taking to the red carpet for the ‘Hobbit’ premiere, the actor opted to revamp his classic style with a double-breasted, peaked-lapel plaid blazer. This marvellous piece was paired with dark grey trousers, not opting to go all the way like Eddie. Should he have, or do you like Richard’s take on modern suiting?

2014 London Evening Standard Theatre Awards Menswear Roundup

David Beckham wasn’t the only handsome gent on the red carpet for the 60th London Evening Standard Theatre Awards held at the London Palladium on Sunday (November 30) in London, England.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The actor looked very smart and handsome on the red carpet, decked in a peek lapel suit before his presenting duties at the event. Once again my eyes headed straight to his lovely fiancée, director Sophie Hunter, who again wore an Erdem gown, this time selecting a Pre-Fall 2014 Bayleigh jacquard gown rendered with bubblegum, burgundy and merlot roses.

Tom Hiddleston: Prepare to swoon once again, this time for the winner of the Best Actor award, Tom Hiddleston, who looked very dapper in his black Alexander McQueen shawl collar tuxedo styled with a tonal skull bow tie and skull cufflinks. He was giving Becks a run for his money when it comes to best dressed male at this event.

Eddie Redmayne In Ralph Lauren Purple Label - 'The Theory of Everything' Turin Film Festival

Eddie Redmayne attended the screening of ‘The Theory of Everything’ held at the Turin Film Festival in Turin, Italy where the British actor picked up the ‘Maserati Torino’ prize for his interpretation of Stephen Hawking in the movie.

Looking as sharp as ever, the actor wore a Ralph Lauren Purple Label suit.

I just love the green and blue plaid pattern for a graphic touch while maintaining sartorial elegance and refinement.

After a few outings in navy blue, it’s good to see him wearing a touch of colour once again.
